The Insomniac (Part 2)
The boy Jack continues with his Insomnia madness until morning... (the rest of it.)
5:30 am.
Dear Diary,
I look over to my window and see it broken. Pieces hanging here and there just where a whole window used to be. I remember what happened perfectly. I remember that I needed to do it, it was necessary. I looked at my clock. Five O' clock it read. Five o'clock the sun should be up by now. So walked over to the window, and looked through the darkness. "Come up sun, it's time to come up", I told it. Nothing happened. Maybe if I plead with it, it will come up.
So I leaned up against the window and started pleading with it. "Please come up, I need you to come. I need your warm embrace. Please oh please come up." Tears came streaming down my face. I needed it to come up, and it wasn't coming. Why wasn't it obeying me? Fine then be that way! Don't come up and no one will have light ever! Is that what you want? As I said this I took a few steps back from the window. The whole world may not care if you never come up, but I need you! I shouted pounding my fists on the window. I need you! I punched the window. I need you! I punched the other side of the window this time. It was severely cracked now. I placed my target I was ready now. I need you! I punched the window smack dab in the middle. A huge crash was heard, and huge pieces of glass came falling onto my hand. I cried out in pain, and for a moment wondered why nobody had heard me. Quickly I removed my hand, shaking it slightly. Making glass fall inside and outside my window. Seeing a dirty shirt on the floor I picked it up, and wrapped it around my hand. Slowly I sat back on my bed. Now the sun could come through the window, where I needed it. I had done what needed to be done. As I looked down at my hands, I am glad didn't punch the window with my writing hand.

5:47 am.
Dear Diary,
I see the moon outside my broken window. There is his face looking at me. Why is he looking at me? Wait, I see, yes he's opening he mouth wide. He's laughing at me! Mocking me for what I did to the window. I look at my covered hand then at him. You don't understand I needed to do it! It had to be done! Just then he was no longer laughing at me, he was frowning at me. "What? You want a piece of this!" He seemed to say no so I said, "I didn't think so!" So there I sat waiting for the sun to come into my window.

6:00 am.
Dear Diary,
I see the light coming in slowly and the darkness slowly fading away. The light, I see it on the floor, it's coming in, in patches. I hope this is the real thing, but there is really no way of telling. It could be a trick of the darkness. The truth will come to me soon.

6:30 am.
Dear Diary,
There are even more patches of light now. I can't stand it anymore! I must have the light! I must help the light come! Jumping off the bed, I landed in the patches of light. It didn't hurt pain was numb to me now. I started helping the light come, peeling away the darkness like dead skin. But what's this I see, more darkness underneath! No! No! This can't be! It's a trick, but it can't be! The light must come! Frantically, I started peeling away the darkness faster than I could see. Soon I realized that it was no use. The darkness was more clever than I. Rising from the floor I started to cry. Why did the darkness have to be so cruel? Continuing to cry I walked over to my bed and sat down. I cried until I could not cry any more.

7:00 am.
Dear Diary,
I see the sun it's so beautiful! Contrary to what the moon thought it did need me to break to break the window in order to come in. I feel its warmth on my body. It feels so good. I lay down now I embrace it fully. It is letting me leave this place, letting me go to a better place. I feel my eyes close. It is giving me sleep. Yes sleep, eternal sleep...
