The Importance of Specialized Training

Gaining specialized training can assist in your success in the job market. It is a powerful asset to both you and your employer.

The Importance of Specialized Training

A few years back I started a new job with a small business in Utah. It was my responsibility to work directly with clients in providing specialized trainings for their online businesses. It was interesting to me to have clients come to me with questions which they needed answered, because if I didn’t know they answer I had to find it in order to meet their needs. I needed information and it was an absolute necessity to know what I was talking about. It was through my own personal training that I was able to respond with answers.

IT professionals face this issue every day, especially if they are dealing with high-tech companies. Employers need their networks to run quickly and efficiently; and they look to these professional for guidance. Imagine being a situation where your entire process depends upon your network and it crashes; if you don’t have the proper training and education, your employers is losing time and money. The network has to be up and it is an absolute must that you have the answer. Training is the solution.

For IT professionals there are many different routes which can be taken in order to gain training for these types of situations. Obviously a college education is one of the best ways to learn how to properly handle problems such as this; however many individuals do not have time nor the funds to pursue this type of education. For those people, certifications provide experience based training in a less expensive manner. A candidate can become certified for less than $2k depending upon the certification which is chosen and the training offered, compared to a 30k degree. It is also an option to pursue individual titles within certifications if going all out is not something viable for the time being. If time is an issue, certifications can be completed on either a set time frame, or on an individual needs plan. The important issue is that the proper training and education are received from the certification to answer problems which will be encountered in the work place.

There are many different types of certifications and trainings which can be selected; for example, one can become certified in Microsoft products through certifications such as the MCSE or MCSA, while others might be more interested in CompTIA products. Each certification is designed to teach and train in specialized areas, so that when situations such as our network example pop up, answers are not far away for your employer.

Gaining specialized training could be the key to success in your career as an IT professional. Through certifications candidates will gain experience based training. Become CCNA or Microsoft MCSA certified and give yourself the skills necessary to survive in the IT industry. Mike Allen writes about IT certification training.
