The Importance of Disaster Recovery Software

It has been often discussed about data security and recovery and how important they are. However, when it comes to a business, data loss can be considered a disaster - just think about it - your computer stores data in regards to your clients, inventory, accounts, old transaction, accounting files and so on. Imagine what it would be like if one day all that data will disappear because of a computer virus. Networking is partial solution but since viruses tend to spread within networks, it is obvious that the best solution is to back-up all your data and using disaster recovery software. To be more exact, disaster recovery software includes two categories - backing up data and restoring it, and collecting data from damaged files.

Disaster Recovery Software - Reconstructing Erased Files

The importance of disaster recovery software when there is no back up is almost invaluable - imagine that everything on your hard disk drive has been erased due to a technical problem, or a virus. In this case, the only thing you can do is hope that the data you had on the drive is not completely lost and often you can search for software that will be able to recover part if not all the data existing on that hard drive. If the data has only been erased, then there is a chance that you will be able to recuperate it through the help of disaster recovery software. Erased data is not actually erased - the code is rewritten in such a way that the computer cannot interpret the "erased" information. The mission that any disaster recovery software has in this case is to decode, and restore all information (if not part of it). The secret is not to write anything on the hard drive after it has been erased. Writing on an erased hard drive usually means overlapping information - the existing, however "erased" one, with the new, readable information. If information has been overlapped, there is nothing you can do (or any disaster recovery software can do) to recover the missing data.

Disaster Recovery Software - Restoring Damaged or Erased Files

This is the safe option that is recommended to all businesses - by using disaster recovery software to back-up all your information, you make sure that in case of a crisis, you will still have access to old information, even if the one stored on your computer is deleted or corrupted. Backing-up every month, or every week (depending on the importance of the files) is imperative to the continuity of the business because it will ensure fast recovery, and low probability of losing important things. Make sure you find disaster recovery software that suits your needs - in other words, you will need very efficient software, that will restore the data fast and easy, without numerous complications because this usually leads to time loss. Another important thing is to always have a small back-up of the back-up - it might sound like a joke, however, what I am trying to point out is that not even back-up is 100 percent sure. This is why you should store your highly important information in duplicate back-up (if not even triplicate) to ensure a low risk of data loss.

Savenet Solutions was established in 2005 and offer managed backup and Disaster Recovery Software (DR) solution which are secure and reliable system which can be scaled easily from a single server in a start up business to hundreds of servers in a corporate network.
