The Happy Ending
A short little love story!
He was a believer of love, he knew that when it came in his life, it would add all the missing colors to the painting. But then, in spite of all his love, understanding, trust and loyalty, Ruchita cheated on him. After 7 years of on-again-off-again, she took his heart and threw it into the depths of the Ganges. After that, he lost all the faith and belief he had in the concept of love. He became a player. And an awesome one at that! Now he believed the 9 out of 10 relationships don't have a happy ending and hence, the odds were too bad to dip his feet in the pool of love.
HER past!
She never believed in love. She stayed away from love like a fish would stay away from land. But then, in spite of all her determination to stay away from Rana, he charmed her. They fell in love. The relation went on for 2 years. She was honest, loving, understanding and everything that a man would want from a woman. But he cheated on her and broke her heart into a million pieces. She now gave up completely on love. Flirted occasionally, but ran away from even the slightest chance of her heart breaking!
HIS name is Ranbir and HER name is Rashi. The story is about them!
They both are now single. Its been 2 years since Ranbir's relationship with Ruchi (that's what he called her) ended and 5 months since Rashi was scorned in love by Rana. Their worlds collide one day when they meet through a common friend, Shivam on his birthday. Rashi and Ranbir hit it off. Partly, because of the fact that both of them hated the concept of love. But, they don't exchange phone numbers that day. The party ends, and both go back to their respective worlds. Shivam then leaves the country for higher studies and Ranbir and Rashi forget about having met.
But seems like the universe had something else in store for them. They run into each other at her favorite coffee shop. They recognize each other instantly and suddenly it seems like the rest of the crowd doesn't exist. They greet each other and exchange courteous conversations. He gives her his card, and asks her to text him, so that he has her number too. She agrees but then, forgets (she is quite forgetful about stuff like this)
For another year, they seem to be living in separate worlds. Suddenly one day Rashi gets a facebook invite from Ranbir that just says one line, "hope you remember me!" she smiles, of course she does. She quickly accepts and within a few days they exchange phone numbers. One day Ranbir gave her a call, asked her to join him for coffee. She liked his company and so, agreed. They met for coffee and spent 2 hours on getting to know each other at a level that, probably, no one else did.
Soon their meetings became longer and more frequent. Rumors, being hard to avoid, also followed them wherever they went. They didn't care, they knew that they were "just friends". But in the privacy of their respective bedrooms, in the quiet of the night, they often wondered to themselves if they were indeed "just friends". Ranbir was soon going to leave the city for a year. A fact that often scared Rashi. She realized that she did love him. But now, how can she go and tell him? And her worst fear was, how would he react even if she did? Would she lose him? So she refrained from telling him.
Its now his last day in the city, being the close friends they are, they go out for dinner together. Both of them seem to be a little awkward. As if, there are words hanging in the air that need to be spoken. She avoids it. Why start something that wont even continue? They finish dinner and leave. The next morning he takes off.
2 months later he visits home, just for 2 days. These 2 months have been hell for Rashi. He gives her a call, "lets catch up" he says. They meet up at their favorite coffee shop. The same one where they ran into each other almost 2 years ago. The same place where they had their first cups of coffee together. She cant take it anymore. She tried to talk her self out of it. But she knew that if she didn't tell him, she would never be able to settle it out. After he dropped her home from coffee that day, she sent him a text, "I love you, since the day I have known you!"
He didn't know how to react, he kept mum. The next day, he called her, "Why are you complicating things? I love you, but we cannot start this, don't spoil our friendship." says he. She knew that he might react like that. She doesn't react. 2 days later, he calls her, "I lied, I love you too, and I cant live without you in my life." were his only words. She is ecstatic!
10 months later, he returns from his course. Finally they meet after such a long wait. Its like it were centuries ago that the wait had started. They talk things out (they couldn't help it, both loved to clarify everything before making a decision) and start dating. A year later they get married and live happily ever after!!
Now, they are living in Mumbai and have 2 children!!
