The Great Big White Mouse
A look at what I got. Was it what I wanted.......I don't think so!
I awoke, early last year
Can you guess--what did I find?
Me, grinning from ear to ear
And thinking, "am I out of my mind?"
I found that my fine white house
Had been summarily invaded
By a great big white mouse
Who brayed, and then berated
"Now we have a new way
To run this fine white house"
Brayed the great mouse that day
To both me and to my spouse
I’m taking all your cheese
Because you have more than enough
And I’m not saying please
Do you want me to play rough?
Your cheese will feed many
Of my good friends and relations
And you won’t be getting any
So you best lower expectations
"I’ll take good care of them
So my friends will keep me around
But there will be mayhem
If tomorrow you are still found
Here in this fine white house
That you thought was yours"
Said the great big white mouse
As he threw us through the doors
We landed with a thud
I thought my head would break
What was all that crud?
And what sense did it make?
I can only tell you that when
The great big white mouse moved in
Life wasn’t like it had been
And we felt sad as sin
And when the great big white mouse
Threw us through the doors
We felt just like a louse
And man, we were now so very poor!
Now we have no house, no cheese
But mouse isn’t such a bad guy
All we have to do is beg him pretty please
And we don’t have to pay our bills or starve or die
Can you guess--what did I find?
