The Glass House in Connecticut - A Great Vacation and Travel Destination

Have the vacation of a lifetime at The Glass House in Connecticut, by knowing the Attractions to see - Best times to visit - Places to stay, and more.
The Glass House in Connecticut was built by Philip Johnson in 1949 in New Canaan. The reason this home is famous is because the exterior walls are not constructed of wood as one might assume but rather clear glass, which is quite uncommon for a home exterior!

When the architect died in 2005 the Glass House became a National Trust Historic Site and has since been opened for the first time in its history to the public for tours. Those interested in taking a tour of Connecticut's Glass House may visit the Visitors Center that is located across from New Canaan's Metro-North train station.

What is so interesting about the Glass House is that Johnson actually lived in this home. He also designed some of America's other well-known landmarks. These include the Sony Plaza, Fort Worth Water Garden, and The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden at the Museum of Modern Art, the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, and many more.

Since there is so much history involved as well as design and just novelty it is highly recommended that individuals check out the Glass House in Connecticut. You can visit New Canaan while you are traveling through Connecticut to reach New York or else you can plan a direct trip of your own. New Canaan is quaint and a great place to spend some time exploring and really checking out the Glass House. You will surely have some questions about the Glass House so take note of those so you can ask about them when you take the tour. The Glass House only recently opened to the public in 2007 so it has not been widely seen by tourists yet. Although, plenty of people are pouring into New Canaan to check out the glass house and the impact it had on architecture and design throughout the 20th century.
