The Game of Poetry

A little game of poetry I learned.
The game of poetry is a fun activity if you're a teacher in a poetry unit. (Lang. Arts) This is how you play.

1. All the students submit ONE noun into a container. (It doesn't matter if the noun could be used as something other than a noun)
2. The educator picks out first, one slip of paper, then 3 then 7 - The number of nouns picked increase as the poetry game goes on.
3. The students write a poem that includes that noun. If it may be used as something other than a noun, they can use it that way. It can be in the title, too!

Rules -
1. The word(s) has to be in the poem.
2. It can be any kind of poem - sonnets, free verse, limerick, etc.
3. Have fun with the game!

Example - This is a poem that includes ONE word, (It's the first stage) The word is Hawk. The poem's title is 'The Boy.'

******************************************************

The Boy

The boy who walks
Today
Past the blocks-
That separates him from his home.

His first walk-
Around here
Eyes like a hawk
Walking then running.

Back to his home...
As he goes he imagines
Drinking cool foam
From bubbling soda.

Wiping sweat off his brow
Pushes forward
Running as quickly as his legs allow
Eager to get out of the sweltering sun.

He alarms
Every tiny being
To get to his mother's arms
Hear his thundering feet.

The little boy
From his first day of school
Takes out his toy
Gives it to who he loves...

His smile as warm as the sun
That shines so bright
Says school was fun
But it's hard to be away.

From you.

Do you like the idea of this Game of Poetry, and the example in it?
I love the idea, and the example is great!
The idea's bad, but the example is good.
The idea's great, but I feel that the example isn't good.
Both of them have problems, I don't approve.
