The Forbidden Love I Can Get

This is the sequel to my first story, The Forbidden Love I Want. I hope you like it. I'd appreciate it if you commented on it to me and voted in the poll I set up. Thanks :)
With a jump in her step that she tried to hide, Lilly went back to tell Mark about the new friend she had made of Jon.

Mark was sitting at the kitchen table doing a crossword when she came in.
"Hey Lills," He greeted her without looking up, "What’s a 5-letter word meaning ‘to edge slowly towards?’"
"Hmm… Sidles? That must be it isn’t it?" She replied, looking at the puzzle over his shoulder. He had nearly completed it.
"Yes! Thank you, I wouldn’t have gotten that one!" For the first time since she walked in he looked up at her and smiled, "Did you want to talk to me about something?"

"Nothing much, just that I met Jon, our neighbor. He’s really nice, and kind of cute." She blushed and quickly turned her head away from her dad.
"Is he now…" Mark said, jokingly pretending to be a ‘strict dad,’ "And how old is this boy Lillith Barnes?"

"Ugh, Lilly, Lilly! Not Lillith please, you know I don’t like it," She interrupted, batting Mark’s shoulder with her hand, "But he’s only 20, he said his birthday is in a couple of weeks time."
"He’s 21?! Lilly, whether he’s the boy next door or a Greek god, I have to put my foot down somewhere. You’re only 16 for goodness sakes! You’re starting school tomorrow - Yes tomorrow – and there will be lots of guys for you to meet; that are more your age." Mark didn’t look angry, but there was a warning behind his voice.

"He’s not that old! Why do you have to ruin everything! I didn’t want to come here, and now when I finally meet someone I like I can’t have anything to do with him?!" Not waiting for a reply, Lilly ran upstairs and into her bedroom. Mark stuttered and tried to stop her, but she disappeared into her room.

The next morning, Lilly got changed into her new uniform, packed her bag, and began walking to her bus station. It was a cold morning, and her skirt was scratchy and too short. She didn't think her first day would go too well; she had no friends and had only been in the country for a day.

There was a sound behind her, and she turned to look in that direction. Jon was standing in his doorway, waving.
"Good luck on your first day!" He called out to her, grinning and waving enthusiastically. Lilly smiled in reply and waved back. She was thinking about quickly sneaking over to chat to him before her bus arrived, but she heard the sound of the school bus down the road and had to quickly run to catch it.

When she got off the bus; well it was more being pushed in a crowd of teenagers trying to get out, she was astounded at the amount of students just outside the doors. Her old school had been big, but this was like a university, and everyone was screaming and kicking balls around. Lilly had never felt so alone.

As she was being bumped around by the people around her, somebody grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the crowd.
"Are you alright? You shouldn't stand there unless you want to go inside, it's like a wind tunnel." The person who had grabbed her laughed, and Lilly saw it was a male student about her age.
"Yeah," She sighed, "Thanks, I'm new here and it's all so... big. I'm Lilly."
"I'm Alexander, Alex to everyone here. I've been here all my life so if you'd like I can help show you the ropes." Alex was interrupted by a bell ringing, and he apologized but said he had to run to formclass.

"I would offer to take you to your form room, but I've been arriving late to class lately and my teacher will kill me! I might see you in class aye?" Lilly managed to say goodbye before he disappeared into the crowd of people. Lilly got caught up in the mob, but eventually made it to her form room.

When she walked in, the class had just begun and everyone had sat down at their desks and were listening to the teacher. Lilly was surprised how quiet it was, especially after how rowdy they had been outside. With a touch of sadness she realized that Alex wasn't in her form class. She stood awkwardly in the doorway for a couple of seconds until the teacher noticed her.

"Oh! You must be Lilly then? Class, this is our new student Lilly. I hope everybody makes her feel welcome." The teacher smiled at her as she spoke, and she looked nice enough. Lilly quietly said hello to everyone.
"Lilly, how 'bout you sit next to Violet over there, yes just there." Violet was a bright-eyed girl with black hair who grinned at her as she sat down at the desk beside.

"Hi! I'm Violet, nice to meet you! Is it true that you just moved here? Wow that's really cool, you have to tell me about your home country sometime, I've never been out of Europe before, I went to Paris once... I hope we're going to be really good friends, oh my goodness I'm rambling, I'll just shut up now." She laughed.
"Oh no, don't worry, it's nice to finally have someone to talk to." She sighed but grinned at her new, enthused friend.
