I am running from my horrible, dreadful life. My normal eighteen year birthday last month seemed like it changed my whole future. Now, I'm running away from fear, loneliness, betrayal, and other negative influences on me. My friends betrayed me, my family shunned me, and now society wants to hunt me; and for what? I haven't done anything to this society, and now I'm being hunted?
Running through the woods, hoping to keep my tracks hidden from people because they were close by. I stopped behind a thick tree, and watch the people run by.
"What's going on?" I muttered. "My life must hate me."

Then I spotted my best friend, Allison. She looked into the woods and stared, and I stared back. Allison's long blonde hair is all scattered around, her light green eyes scanned the premises, and her slender body slithered around the outer trees for slyness. She stopped her scan, and headed down the road.
I took a deep breath and started to go deeper in the woods. The lights became nothingness, and I started to feel my way around. Suddenly my hand touched a surface which was wet and gooey, and I about screeched, but held back so the people wouldn't find me. I pulled my hand away, wiped my hand on my shirt, and kept moving forwards.
"What's that smell?" I muttered and stopped. I sniffed the air and it smelt odd, like salty, but also fresh which confused me. I moved a few steps forwards and stopped again. "It's odd..." I took another step forward and I slipped into water.

I splashed around, afraid what I am in. I grabbed a hold of the bank and took deep breaths. Then bright lights hit my face.
"See, we can find you," said a deep voice man.
I glance up and saw it was Adrian, my ex-lover. He stood tall and straight, with his short black hair and his brown eyes glaring at me.
"What the hell did I do? I did nothing to anyone!" I yelled.
"Well, you must've. There's a reward for killing you, and so, I'm going to kill you," Adrian stepped on my hands and I fell into the water.

I started to try to swim, but I never learned how to swim, and I went under again. Then I went under the water and started to sink in the coldness. I couldn't believe that this is happening to me, trying to reach up towards the surface to see if anyone would help me, but nothing. I started to close my eyes and then there was a huge flash, and quickly opened my eyes. I tried to push my body upwards, but my limbs became weak and I knew I'm starting to die. I just gave up, closed my eyes, and I started to let the water go into my body. Something hard and firm grabbed my arm, and then I was pulled out of the water, and was gently laid on the ground.
"Ellie, come to me!" shouted the voice.

I could hear the voice, but I couldn't respond to it. He knelt down beside my body and started to give me CPR. After about the fifth time, I coughed up huge amounts of water, and this stranger helped me.
"Are you alright Ellie?"
I stared at him, baffled on how he knew my name. "Who are you? You're supposed to be like, trying to kill me?"
"What? I can't do that to you! It's against the law."
"Huh, who are you?" I quickly asked.
"I'm Marcus, and I need to get you far away from here," he firmly said.
I didn't argue with him, and he quickly picked me up. Then I had second thoughts about this; don't know him, and what if he'll try to kill me like the others? But it has to be better than facing the whole town.
"Trust me, I'm not going to hurt you in any way, shape, or form. I'm on your side," he whispered and started to run away from the town.
"Where are we going then?" I muttered softly.

"My place for tonight, then we'll have to travel tomorrow."
Marcus walked farther away from my town, and I just wanted to be safe. I looked up at him, seeing his electric blue eyes focused ahead; his shoulder length blonde hair is now over his shoulders, his face is flawless, perfection, and his perfection made me feel like I wanted to melt in his arms.
"We're about to my house, you'll be safe here."
I nodded and his pace quickened. Within two minutes, we reached a huge brick house right in the middle of a small meadow.
"Wow," I softly said.
Marcus' grip tightened and he quickly opened the door. He let me down so he could lock the door. I walked to the huge empty opening and started to shiver from my wet clothes.
"Here you go," Marcus placed a towel over my shoulders. "I'm going to dig out some clothes for you, so you can switch up. Then I'll explain this whole situation to you, you are so confused right now, and I'd be the best to explain to you."
"Can't you just explain it to me now..."

"No, Ellie. You need to get different clothes on and you should take a shower. I don't need you sick next..." and Marcus became quiet.
"Alright," then I followed Marcus to the back rooms and he went into a huge room; guessing his bedroom. He stopped in front of a dresser and pulled out a shirt and blue jeans. He handed me the clothes and then took me to the bathroom.
"Okay," he pulled out a new towel, then grabbed soap and shampoo for me. "You need a shower, you smell like pond water and it will get rid of the cold chills. Then I'll talk to you," then Marcus left the bathroom.

I peeled of my wet clothes and threw them on the toilet seat. I turned on the hot water and it felt really good. So I got in, and started to relax. I started to soap down my hair, smelling the lilac soap and it made me smile. I rinsed my hair and breathed in the last aromas of the lilac smell and then I started to soap my body. There was filth and grim came off my arms and I scowled. I scrubbed harder and harder until my arms turned pink, then I was satisfied. After about fifteen minutes worth in the shower, I grabbed the towel, dried myself down, and then slipped on the dry clothes Marcus gave me. The shirt is a bit loose and the pants are long, but I can live with it. I opened the door and backtracked my way back to the entrance of the house. Then Marcus saw me and waved me to the kitchen.
"Hey, you look better than before," he smiled and pulled the chair out for me to sit in.
"Thanks," I sat down and he pushed the chair in. "So the explaining?"
"Okay," Marcus sat down next to me. "You are not going to believe me, but you're not really human Ellie..."

"First, how do you know my name?" I quickly asked.
"Calm yourself Ellie. Everything will be explained," he smoothly said.
I stared at him and dropped my eyes to the table, "sorry, I was rude..."
"No, don't apologize, you're fine Ellie."
I nodded and tried to keep my vision away from Marcus, but he grabbed my hand and muttered something I couldn't understand. So I looked up and Marcus held my hand tightly, but something felt odd.
"What's happening?" I whispered and saw Marcus starting to glow. "What? What are you?"
"I am an angel, and so are you Ellie, but you're a fallen one."
"How can I be an angel when I was born in this world...?"
"Ellie...wait, being a fallen angel makes you nearly bounded to Earth. I been looking for you over hundreds of years, and I don't want to lose you once again. We were made for each other, and I can't let you leave me anymore. You're part of me, when you were gone, it seemed like a huge chunk of my heart was missing, all because of you. I want to get you back to heaven with me, instead of you cycling down here," and Marcus stared into my eyes.

"How do I get back?" I asked.
"Well, first you need to earn your wings back. That's the most important detail here, but I need to find how you can earn your wings back."
"Thanks for saving me," I whispered.
"No need to thank me, we're together to protect each other. We're mates, and we protect each other, but for now, I'm the one that's going to do all the protecting."
I looked at my hand that is still in his and he squeezed my hand.
"What is my angel name?" I asked.
"Anna Marie."

"Wow, such a pretty name," I muttered.
"Such a pretty name for a pretty woman," Marcus smoothly said.
I looked away, knowing my face slowly turning red, but Marcus gently touched my face.
"You're beautiful anyway you are, my Anna."
I looked at him and he smiled. I smirked at him and he quickly got up from the chair.
"You should rest. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day," Marcus helped me out of my chair.
"Okay, I'll sleep on the couch..."
"No, you're sleeping in my bed. I'm going to find answers out and you need the best rest possible."

I heavily sighed and Marcus walked me back through the halls to a huge room. I gasped and stared at the silky red curtains, the golden sheets and covers on the bed, and the white lace covering the tops of the dressers.
"It's beautiful!" I said in awe.
"I know, it's meant for us Ellie. My color is he red and Anna's is the gold; it's for us being brave and courageous. We are some special pair together up there," he smiled and let my hand go. "Now you get all cozy in bed and I'll stay awake and watch over you."
"Okay," I crawled onto the soft bed and I smiled. "Thanks Marcus thanks for saving me and letting me use your bed."
"First, it's our bed and two, I have to save you, and you're part of me. Now sleep," he whispered and left the room.
I went under the covers and snuggled against a pillow.
"Hmm, Marcus..." then I blacked out.
