"Where off to now?" Adam asked as they walked out of the restaurant.

"C’mon, I have somewhere to show you." She grabbed Adam’s hand and ran to a bus that was just pulling up to the stop ahead of them.

"Where are we going?" Adam question once they were seated.

"You’ll see." Jade smiled slyly.

They got off the bus in a nice neighborhood.

"Almost there." Jade led them down the street. At the end of the street there was a huge house with blue shutters, bay windows and a yellow door. There was a ‘for sale’ sign in the front yard.

"One day this house will be mine. And me and my family will live happily ever after." Jade was chocking up. She’d never shared her dreams with anyone before. She was scared of what her real future held though, because she didn’t want to become like her deadbeat parents.

"I know you will. And I’ll be your handy man." Adam added, but he knew he wanted to be more than that. Pushing those foolish thoughts away he followed Jade, into the back yard of her dream house.

"Look," Jade pointed to a small tree house in a maple tree in the big backyard. "Sometimes I go up there to think, or stay when I don’t want to go home."

"You could always stay at my place when you feel like that, seriously Jade." Adam was hurt that she went there first.

"Sometimes it’s really late, sometimes I don’t want to be around anyone else. Thanks though, really." She was really touched by how much Adam really cared and wondered what would happen if they weren’t just friends. They walked across the backyard and climbed up a ladder into the tree house.

"I always keep a blanket up here for the nights I come here."

Jade secured the trap door shut. It was a hot, late may afternoon and jade peeled off her sweater.

"Jade, you know how I’m turning 16 next month?"

"Of course, I’ve already got you a great present,"

"Well I’ve decided to get my own apartment, and I want you to come and live with me. I know you have your sister but I’m sure we can find her a place to stay so you won’t have to worry about her and I know CAS will be involved but it’ll be so much better than things are now and please-"

"Stop," Jade thought for a moment, everything Adam said was true. Her sister’s friend’s parents had offered multiple times to take her in but Jennifer never said yes because of Jade having to stay there. Now that Jade had some place to go too, she was sure Jennifer would finally accept. She really also wanted so much to move in with him, he was the only one other than her sister that cared at all about her truly.

"Ok…" Jane said finally with a smile.

"Ok." Adam answered back, grinning.

"Jade, have I ever told you how beautiful I think you are," Adam asked her nervously.
"Adam, have I ever told you what a great you are?" She replied moving closer.

"No I don’t believe you have," he said leaning in. "I think I love you, Jade." He was very afraid this would scare her. But it didn’t, instead she smiled and kissed him. He kissed back whole-heartedly. Soon they were stripped of all their clothes; touching, kissing…

She was Adam’s first that day. He held her in his arms when it was over; he never wanted the moment to end.

"You hungry?" Adam asked once they both woke up from napping.

"Starved."

It was near sunset now and the sky was just showing signs of night. The dressed and Adam suggested they go down to the beach nearby. There were food stands scattered along the beach. The chose to get food from the sandwich kiosk near a grassy hill. Jade couldn’t get her mind off what had just happened between them earlier that day. She loved him, and she felt that nothing could ever be wrong again with him. They ate in silence on the beach, watching the sun set on the ocean.

"Adam…" Jade broke the silence.

"Yeah?" He looked over.

"I love you too."

Adam leaned over and kissed her cheek.

That night they packed both Jade and Jennifer’s things while their father was out. Jennifer after that moved in with her friend’s family and they later adopted her. And Jade, well Jade and Adam moved in together, and after university they got married. A few years later on their 5th anniversary Adam surprised Jade with the deed to a house; her dream house. I guess you could say they lived as happily ever after as two people ever could. So, I guess this did end well…

The End.
