The Enchantress - Chapter 3

Sorry it's been so long guys...things have been kinda hectic here lately. New Character introduced this chapter enjoy :))
In present day, I find myself hiding and running more than I care to admit. Though I am not able to die there are fates worse than death that certain political parties in this "Great World" that would love nothing more than to harness my power and utilize it for their own selfish purposes. One such person convinced me that he was different from his predecessors last millennium, nearly a century after the start of the great war now raging in three different dimensions but all he really wanted was for me to heal his sickly son. Everyone searches for me out of selfishness which makes it hard to distinguish who is sincere and who is not, such as the young girl who approached me earlier this week. She has the height of a child but the figure of someone much older. The blonde-haired beauty standing before me even as I write is something of a mystery. The name she has given me in inaccurate I am sure and her mental shields do not allow me to read her thoughts. She reminds of someone I once knew centuries ago...but that is impossible. I refuse to give one moments thought to such outrageous ideas; her eyes are the wrong color anyway.

"Anna...can you help me please? These bags are kinda heavy..." the voice of the young child breaks into my thoughts. The way her eyes sparkle gets to me and I my heart begins to break all over again.
"Child did I not warn you to take smaller parcels with you? You seem to have brought your whole residence. What purpose is a curling iron and straightener serving when we have not electrical outlets on this mission?" for a moment I think she is going to speak and explain, but it is gone in the blink of an eye as the closes her mouth. I cannot stop the sigh before it escapes my lips. Child you have no need to be frightened...I will not harm you and I do not bite on Wednesdays.

The small bit of humor woven into that statement does not go unnoticed by my young companion. As I see the small grin appear on her lips the thought enters my mind that may be hope still exists somewhere in the universe.
"Maybe we can sell them to a goblin....they don't seem to understand the meaning of frizz control," her smile widens and my day is brightened even more as we both burst into historical fits of laughter. Goblins are ornery and the last thing they are worried about is their state of appearance. Far more often conquering the universe is their main concern.

"Darkness is approaching fast and I see a cottage up ahead. I suggest we stop there for the night. We both need our rest if our mission is to be successful," I suggest to the girl. She smiles and nods and again I am reminded of all that I have lost; grief threatens to overwhelm me. I blink rapidly a few times and the feeling is gone. Thankfully the sorcerous blood running through my veins makes my emotions easier to control. I do not want to turn into a blubbering idiot in front of this complete stranger. I am determined to show that I have no weaknesses. After all I never know when she will turn on me and join my enemies.
