The Easiest Way To Sell Ebooks Online
It is not difficult to sell ebooks online, but you do need to know - or learn - some 'tricks' and 'secrets' about getting things done right, and in the correct sequence...
How often have you heard about people struggling to sell ebooks online? Maybe it made you nervous about even starting writing your first ebook. Or perhaps it disheartened you, shattered your dreams of becoming the Web's next J.K.Rowling or Stephen King.
Truth be told, it is not difficult to sell ebooks online. However, you do need to know - or learn - some 'tricks' and 'secrets' about getting things done right, and in the correct sequence.
While parts of this article will sound counter-intuitive, think about them. After all, if everyone else is doing things the same way but NOT being able to sell ebooks online, maybe it's worth trying a different approach, right?
Start With Your Market
Far too many eager infopreneurs want to sell ebooks online, and begin in a rush by planning and writing an ebook about something they are passionate. At best, they ask a few friends what they think of the idea - and when some of them agree, it's time to set off for the races!
Unfortunately, market research does not mean asking a few friends. Or even many friends (unless they are ready to fork over cash in advance for when your ebook is ready!)
Look for hungry crowds. What do people want? What problems do they face, and what solutions are they not finding? What kind of things keep them awake at night, worrying or dreaming about having?
Once you know your target market's hot triggers, and understand what drives them, you have achieved something not many other infopreneurs will ever learn.
Don't Write Your Book - Write Your Blog
Yes, I'm serious. Do NOT write your ebook. If you want to sell ebooks online, you first need a hungry crowd of buyers who want your ebook, are eagerly waiting for it, and will gladly pay you to give it to them.
Where do you find such buyers? On your blog. And what's on your blog? Content they want. Plan out your ebook, and while writing your chapters, post a short (or long) excerpt of it on your blog regularly.
As visitors to your blog read your content, and if they like it, they will want more. Tell them you are planning an ebook on the topic. Ask them what more they want to learn in it. Invite them to sign up for the pre-launch announcement list.
Warm Up Your List
Your list will grow, populated by eager readers who are the perfect target market for your ebook. Get them primed to buy by sprinkling the content you are giving them with short 'teaser' copy about how good the ebook is going to be.
If you have friends who are experts or celebrities, give them sample chapters to review, and use their feedback or testimonials in emails to your list to show how even big shots like what's in your ebook.
Launch With A Bang
When your ebook is ready to launch, do a hard-sell promotion to your list for the first few days. Give your loyal fans a pre-launch discount, then some extra launch day bonuses, and finally a few exclusive gifts if they buy beyond the launch week.
Incentivize them to spread the word, maybe by including an affiliate program where they get paid a share of the profits from any sale they refer to your site.
This is by far the easiest way to sell ebooks online - because you are not really selling, you're just placing the ebook in front of an audience that has already told you what they want to buy!
