The Different Ways of Practicing Pilates
If you want to take up Pilates, but you don't know where to start, this article is for you. Here we will look at the different ways of practicing Pilates.
1. Pilates mat work:
If you want to practice Pilates with little to no equipment, the Pilates mat is you best bet. All the Pilates moves can be done on a Pilates mat. If you are new to Pilates, I would recommend that you use the help of an instructor for your Pilates mat work.
2. Pilates band:
The Pilates band adds extra resistance to a normal Pilates workout. So it's actually more of an resistance pilates band. It is very versatile and can also be used outside. It comes in different resistance levels, so is well suited to beginners all the way to advanced.
3. Pilates ring:
The Pilates ring is a round shaped Pilates tool that has added resistance and can be used to exercise your whole body. Most of the Pilates rings I've seen have only one resistance, but there is one or two that have different resistances. The ring is light and compact, so you can take it with you where ever you go.
4. Pilates chair:
The original Pilates chair was developed by Joseph Pilates himself and it was a much larger version of today's' more compact Pilates chairs. Pilates chairs can be used mostly for toning your whole body, although some Pilates chairs also have added cardio benefits.
5. Pilates machines:
For a professional Pilates workout, look no further than the Pilates machine. It has added resistance and some Pilates machines also have a cardio rebounder that gives just an effective workout as the treadmill.
6. Pilates videos and games:
For a fun and effective Pilates workout, look no further than Pilates games or DVD's. Practicing Pilates with a video or a game can add motivation to youth workout and is a great way to make sure that you get your Pilates workout in. The Wii console has some Pilates games and there is lots of Pilates DVD available.
I'm sure that you are able to find at least one way of practicing Pilates after reading this article. When you want to buy Pilates equipment check if it will be suited for you and if it is in your budget. And make sure that you do use it after purchase. To make sure you do this, schedule a date with yourself to do Pilates and make sure that you follow through.
