The Crono Warrior - Prologue
Just a school thing I have to do (the reason behind my story delays) I have to write a novel for my creative writing class but I'm not sure if it's good... I need comments and suggestions on this story... this is the prologue by the way and more will follow... I only have to write up to four chapters and write the summary plot for the rest... if anybody is interested, please tell me.. I would continue to write for your enjoyment, thanks... =)
Prologue
The door opens and what Xiao Long see are broken instruments, sparks flying off the broken chords, and dead bodies.
"We’re too late," said a female voice. Xiao Long looks behind him as he hears her footsteps entering the room. Her hazel eyes scanned the area before she turns around to look at the child.
"Everything is destroyed. How are we going to continue?" Xiao Long asked in a pale tone.
"I’ll go back to see if I can prevent it."
"But you’ve used chronoshift ten times already, you can’t prevent it." Her black hair sways in the wind as she looks down the floor, disappointed.
"I hate it when I couldn’t prevent things in time, especially with this ability of mine." She turns around to study the room again. She walks over to a hole and looks down. There, she spotted a sealed test tube containing light blue fluid. He looks down with her, seeing how deep the hole is, he asked, "shall I get a rope?"
"No need." She extended her hand to reach for the test tube in which it slowly rises and flew up to her hand as she closes her fingers around it.
"What is it?"
"An ability booster. It raises the ability of one person to its highest point for only five minutes." She opens the cap and peer inside before putting the lid back on.
"It’s going to be useless here. Unless - no, you’re not going to use it for chronoshifting are you?" She looks into his eyes and looks back at the test tube.
"It’s the only way."
"But we don’t know what the results could be."
"I’ll take my chances." An ominous wind blew and her ears catch the sounds of footsteps running toward the room. Using her telekinesis, she closes the door and barricades it with tables and rubbles. She picks up Xiao Long and runs towards a broken window where she jumps out to the barren wasteland and look from side to side.
"We’re surrounded!" he said with terror when he sees four mysterious creatures pointing their guns at them but she didn’t care for she have face this situation before. She takes out a set of daggers from her belt and one by one, a dagger flies out of her hand, circling around her opponent. It stabs the enemy and cut them open as if they have a mind of their own. When the enemies drop down dead, the bloody daggers flew back to her hand. She studies the green blood as Xiao Long runs over to look at the corpses.
"Eww, these guys are uglier than the ones I fought." She walks up to him and looks at the corpse over his shoulder.
"They’re evolving," she said as she examines the armor plated monster.
"Evolving? How could you tell?"
"Their armor, it looks as if they could deflect bullets. I’m just lucky that my daggers are able to pierce their armor." Then she hears a whistle in wind and picks up Xiao Long in time to dodge an incoming missile. She looks over her shoulder as she was running to see two creatures shooting missiles at them.
"This is getting annoying," she whispered to herself and takes out her set of dagger. Once again the daggers fly and destroy the missile in mid air. With this, she puts Xiao Long down and takes out her katana as she circles around the building. When the creatures were reloading, she jumps on top of the building and dash forward. In a flash, she slices one of the creature’s head off, making it drop dead before her with its head soaring high in the sky. The other creature made an attempt to grab her but one of her daggers stabs its wrist, making it shriek with pain. Before it can do anything else, she stabbed its stomach and did an upper slash, splitting its body into two. She sheathed her katana before making her daggers come to her fingertips.
"Bravo, bravo." She looks to the direction of the voice and see a gray haired man holding the struggling Xiao Long under his arm and a silver dagger with the other. However, her expression remains clam and she looks straight into the man’s eye, showing no worries or fear.
"Let go of the child Claudius," she said in a cold voice, "or else you’re dead."
"Threatening me won’t work, S. S. #219. Surrender now or this child dies."
"Don’t think killing a seven year old child will soften my heart." Annoyed by her emotionless tone, he raises his dagger and stabs Xiao Long’ neck, letting the blood flow as he gasps for breath. Claudius smiles but it faded when he also see her smiling.
"Why are you smiling or don’t you not care for this child?" She didn’t answer him right away which further annoys him. She raises her right arm in the sky, pressing her fingertips together.
"You sure don’t know everything about me, do you?"
"What do you mean?"
"You may know I’m a great fighter and that I have the power of telekinesis," she pauses as she closes her eyes and let the winds pass by. She slowly opens her eyes as she finishes her sentence, "but what you don’t know is that I’m a chronoshifter." Claudius became horrify as she snaps her fingers together. She hears bells ringing in her ear and she puts her arm down, counting backwards, "Five, four…" Claudius jumps forward but froze in midair when she counted to one.
"Chronoshift," she said before she closes her eyes. She begins to feel herself being ripped apart into pieces and thrown into a vortex. Her head hurt and her body ached but she is used to the pain for she had done this many times. Then she feels herself being whole again and she feels the familiar wind, swaying her hair to and fro. She opens her eyes, seeing herself holding the bloody daggers in her fingertips once again.
"Bravo, bravo," Claudius voice echo again. Before she turns around, she let her daggers drop and guided them to go stealthily around him. She looks at Claudius again with her emotionless expression, seeing Xiao Long still struggling under his arm.
"Let go of the child Claudius," she repeated her words from before, "or else you’re dead."
"Threatening me won’t work, S. S. #219. Surrender now or this child dies." Instead of saying what she had said before, she smiles which annoys and makes him worry.
"What are you smiling about?"
"Because, I know what you’re going to do already."
"Then you know what I am going to do with this child if you don’t surrender." He raises the dagger, preparing to stab his neck. She just jumps down form the building and walks towards them, unsheathing her katana.
"I suggest you let the child go or your next move will be your last."
"I will not let him go unless you surrender yourself."
"Listen and read my lips, let go of the child," she said coldly, "or you’ll regret it." Obviously, he’s been listening but he didn’t take her warning and choose to kill the boy. Xiao Long closes his eyes to get ready for the dagger that is going to sink into his flesh but instead, he hears the sound of steel clashes together. He opens his eyes and sees the silver dagger stopped by her dagger, hovering in midair to act like a shield. Claudius quickly raises his dagger again for another attempt but he dropped it when another one of her dagger sinks into this throat. He dropped Xiao Long, who scrambles up and run over to her side. By the time he looks back, Claudius is already on his knees, clutching his neck and gasping for breath. She continues to walk up to him and look into his wide open eyes which the word fear is written all over it. She stabbed his chest, letting the blood runs through the blade as she leans over to whisper in his ears.
"I told you, didn’t I?" She jerks off the katana and the dagger in his throat pull out and glided to her fingertips. Giving out his last breath, he drops on the ground; his body twitches a bit and finally his eye closes, signaling his death. She sheathed her katana and turn to look at Xiao Long who just stared back with a smile. Even though he has a heart warming smile, she knows by look into his eyes that he is frighten by what he had seen. Even though he have seen a lot of deaths, it stills haunt him and it also haunted her too for she have been to hell once.
"There, there Xiao Long. No need to be scare."
"Who told you I’m scare?"
"Come on Xiao Long, you’re still a kid."
"No, I’m not."
"Hey, just because you have a super smart brain doesn’t make you an adult alright." He nodded once, indicating that he understands. She patted light on his bald head.
"Don’t worry, being a kid is great. Cherish the moment." She stands up and takes out the ability booster out of her pocket. She examines the test tube, the blue fluid running back and forth as she tilts it.
"Are you going to really use it?"
"It’s the only way if I want to save the last remaining troops." She opens the lid.
"Wait. Can I come with you?" She looks at him and smiles.
"Of course you can, just hold my hand." He happily runs to her and hold her hand.
"Close your eyes." He did as he was told. Then, she drinks the ability booster and closes her eyes as she swallows the bitter fluid. She drops the bottle and snaps her fingers. Once again, she hears bells ringing and begins her countdown.
"Five, four, three, two, one. Chronoshift." A white light envelope them and they were gone without a trace.
The door opens and what Xiao Long see are broken instruments, sparks flying off the broken chords, and dead bodies.
