The Creatori (Prologue)

What’s going on? Callie’s just turned 16. But things are weird. On her way home she finds out that two of the neighbor's sheep have gone missing. No big deal right? But then she finds them outside her house, dead. Then upstairs in her bedroom, there’s a beautiful man sitting on her bed. Callie’s life is turned upside down as she finds out she is part of a species know as Creatori.
Callie yawned and put Breaking Dawn down on her desk. She was absolutely obsessed with the books, and she usually read them when she was bored, which was nearly every day. She glanced at the clock above her desk and gasped, it was later than she had thought, and it was three in the morning. She put the book in a draw of her desk, turned her lamp off and climbed under her covers.

As usual, she started imagining what life would be like if Vampires actually existed. She smiled as she imagined her Edward Cullen, and soon fell asleep.

In the morning, as soon as her eyes opened she jumped up and pulled out her pink A4 notebook and a pen. She’d had another idea as she dreamt last night. She wrote it down exactly as she’d thought it. She always woke up about an hour and a half earlier than she had to for school so that she could write. She always had something to write in the morning. Her best ideas came from her very vivid dreams.

Callie was an average 14 year old. She liked music, boys and clothes. She also loved writing. Her speciality was Sci-fi romances. Everyone who knew Callie knew she loved her pen and paper: she carried it everywhere and was constantly scribbling in it. Her adoption mum, Gina was especially proud of Callie even though Callie refused to show them to anyone. It was a great way to release your feelings she thought. Callie’s parents had died in an airplane crash when she was one. She didn’t really know them, but she missed them. She loved Gina and all, and she couldn’t imagine having anyone else, but sometimes it got awkward. There was also Gina’s 15 year old daughter Mikaela, who was a complete bitch to Callie. She annoyed the hell out of her and there were several short stories hidden in Callie’s safe about her death. Gina’s husband died in the army before I was adopted.

Callie had about twenty notebooks full of stories in her safe. She kept them all locked up because they were so precious to her. She felt that if they were ever tampered with, or read it’d be a complete breach of her privacy and she’d die (Figuratively of course). An hour later Callie finished her story, which concluded of her murdering the evil Mikaela and marrying Rhys Ingo, the school heartthrob. She smiled as she re-read it, corrected a few mistakes and then went to have a shower.

She waved at Rhys as he passed in the school corridor; he nodded and gave a small smile that melted her heart. She sighed and her best friend Angelica skipped to her side.
"Did he nod at you again?" she asked in a bored un-interested voice. Callie sighed every time he looked at her, and it was fast becoming old-news.
"Yeah, and he smiled a little too" she replied dreamily.
"Whatever. Come on, we got English. Our stories are due in today" Angelica pulled her by the arm.
"The ones we were supposed to base on us?" Callie asked. Angelica nodded and Callie sighed.
"I didn’t do it" Angelica stopped, and slowly turned to face her.
"You what?" Callie shrugged.
"I don’t want people reading about my life, it’s embarrassing and invasion of privacy". Angelica nodded slowly but then shook her head.
"Are you feeling okay Callie?" she asked, moving closer. Callie rolled her eyes and reminded her they were gonna be late. They rushed off to class.

The thing was, tomorrow was the anniversary of her parent’s death. March the 13TH. She didn’t want to write a story based on her life, for the reasons she already listed, but also ‘cuz it would dredge more unwanted thoughts than she needed. Add those to the ones she’d have tomorrow and she’d be suicidal.
