The Creatori 8

What’s going on? Callie’s just turned 16. But things are weird. On her way home she finds out that two of the neighbor's sheep have gone missing. No big deal right? But then she finds them outside her house, dead. Then upstairs in her bedroom, there’s a beautiful man sitting on her bed. Callie’s life is turned upside down as she finds out she is part of a species known as Creatori.
Callie woke up a few hours later. With a groan she raised her hand to the back of her head and felt that it was bandaged. She sat up slowly and realized she was on her bed, and the man from the park was sitting at the bottom of it, watching her. She jumped and then winced.

"Careful" he said in his smooth voice, with just a hint of an Italian accent in it. Callie rolled her eyes and lay back on her pillows.
"What are you doing here? No, better yet, who the fuck are you?" she asked with her eyes closed. The man chuckled and leaned forward.
"My name is Angelo and I’m here to help you. Well more like teach you" he smiled.
Callie opened her eyes.
"What?" she asked.
"There are a few important things that you need to know. And I’m the one who’s gonna teach it to you"
Callie sat up and stared at him.
"What are they?"

Angelo smiled and stood up. He pulled her office chair over and then sat in it so that he was facing her.
"Please just listen. Don’t say anything till I’m finished. It might shock you at first but you need to stay calm, ok?" he raised his eyebrows"
Callie frowned in confusion but nodded anyway. Angelo took a deep breath and then started.

"Your full name is Calogera Jazmine Finn. You hate the name and that’s why people call you Callie. You’ve never really understood why your parents called you that ‘weird’ name. In Italian it means beautiful elder. You were named after Calogera, of ancient roman times. You and I are part of a species of people called Creatori which is plural for Creatore. It means creator in Italian. The Italians decided to call them Creatori (plural) which means creators because they could create things using their imaginations, which Is basically how writing is done (with your imagination).
Creatori have the ability to read a story and make it come alive. That is what you did a few days ago. But I’ll come to that later. Calogera was the first female Creatore in Rome and she was very beautiful. No one knew her real name so they called her Calogera – beautiful elder. She’s the oldest Creatore in the world, over twenty thousand years old. Your parents were both Creatori and they named you after her because even though she wasn’t written about in historic texts; she is very famous among us Creatori. "Angelo stopped and took another breath.

"When a Creatore turns 16, they get their powers. They then have the ability to read a story and make it come alive. Certain things won’t happen the way it’s written. It’s hard to explain, but you’ll see. The only story that will come alive is one written by you. All Creatori have a small amount of Italian blood in them. Some are lucky enough to be half or fully Italian. I’m half."

Callie stared at Angelo. She didn’t say or do anything. He just sat there and stared. Finally the silence grated on Angelo’s nerves and he waved a hand in her face. She jumped.
"What were the words that you said in the park yesterday?" it was the only think she could remember.

"Oh you mean; Nel nome del Creatori l'ordino sostiene a dove lei appartiene? It basically means in the name of the Creatori, I order you back to where you belong. It sends things that have been read into reality, back to their pages. Though of course, one more week and it would’ve happened naturally, but, I sensed you needed it urgently" he smirked. Callie nodded, still dumbfounded.

"Soo…I made…Max, real?"
"Yeah"
"But…how? I mean, I know how, but isn’t there some sort of thingy, like a spell or something you have to do first?" she raised her brow.
Angelo laughed and shook his head.
"Oh Callie, we’re not witches! But there is a trigger. Usually it’s an emotion, or a word. A few days ago, I tutored a kid who sneezed while he was reading and it just happened. So it can be anything really. You just have to remember everything you did and you can figure it out" he shrugged.

Callie started to think. On her birthday, she had sat down with her story, and started reading. But…she hadn’t said or done anything during…had she? She thought harder and suddenly it came to her. She had laughed at something and then said fantastic. She couldn’t remember at what, but it was the only thing she had said.

"Fantastic" she whispered and looked at Angelo. He shrugged.
"Try it" he said. Callie chewed her lip for a second before she jumped up and got some paper and a pencil. She wrote one sentence, said fantastic and then turned her gaze to him.

Angelo suddenly jumped up and went to look out of Callie’s window. Callie stared at him, shocked.
"It worked!" she whispered.
He nodded and grinned.
"Yes, it worked. Now on to more important matters"
Callie asked him what it was about.
He studied her face for a while before he answered.
"Your parents"
