The Boys' 21
HOT CHOCOLATE
Sam stood at the kitchen doorway as the dirty blond had his head down and sniffled and cry like a little baby. She stood there not sure what to do. The need to comfort him was so over whelming she didn't realize it till it was too late so was already next to him bent down looking at him curiously.
"Joey." She said softly and it reeked with concern.
The crying quickly stop but, the sniffling still was left behind. He looked up at her. His eyes were puffed up his nose was red. This sight....one of the benwick boys are crying. Sam didn't mean too. It was out of impulse but, she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. She felt him tense up but, then she felt two arms wrap around her and tighten its grip. No one moved and let go. His grip would tighten even more every few minutes. She felt his hot breath on her throat as he took a deep breath in. What should she do? She thought as she suddenly felt awkward.
"Joey." She said once again.
She heard him muffle something but, didn't quite understand him. She pressed her face on the top of his head.
"What Joey." She whispered into his ear.
"You can let go now." He whispered softly back. She let him go but, this sudden feeling of something missing almost made her want to touch him again. They both looked at each other. His hazel eyes looking into her deep green eyes.
"So any reason why you were crying? I thought you Benwick Boys couldn't cry."She said dryly.
She felt bad now for shooting an insult at him. Still, how can a person suddenly just change on someone they supposedly hate?
"Oh." He pressed his lips tight together and shrugs.
"Reasons nothing you would care about." He said annoyed. She felt out of place. Kneeling beside him as he sat on the chair. He looked away from her. His eyebrow narrowed down in frustrates. She stood up and walked over to the Frig.
"Try me." She said and pulled out a mug and a packet of hot chocolate.
"What?" He said confused. Her back was towards him but, she could imagine the confuse look on his face. She poured hot water into the mug and pours the powder chocolate into the mug and stir with a spoon. Everything was silence. The only thing you could hear was the metal spoon hitting the tip of the mug. She took the mug in two hands and turns around and faced him. He was starring at her.
"Tell me why you were crying." She said simply. He turns his face from her and looked down at his hands.
"You'll laugh about it probably." He said sounding a bit embarrassed.
"I promise I won't laugh." She said smiling and he looked up at her.
"My dog...Clark." He choked out. Sam nods her head and looked at him waiting for him to continued,
"Well he died today." He stuttered out. His face washed with sadness.
"That sucks." She said quickly.
He let out a cold hard laugh and nods his head muttering "it does"
"What are you going to do about the corpse?" She asked him and took a seat from across from him.
He shrugs and looked up at her as if she had the answer.
"Maybe a funeral I loved that dog." He said.
"My mom gave him to me." That last line something didn't seem right. That look on his face it seemed like something was...how you put it. The way he said mom it made it seem like he just lost something much more than just his dog. She took a sip of her hot chocolate and sigh deeply.
"Do you want some?" She said offering her hot chocolate. He looked at the mug curiously then reaches for it and took a long gulp and gave me the mug back.
"Shush just finish it off." Sam joked as she looked at the half empty mug. She laughed and so did he.
He looked at her and she starred right back. Both smiling at each other something happen that time. Something that will start a whole new mess of drama.
