The Boxer Dog Breed
At first look, boxers can look intimidating and aggressive because of their massive size. Seeing a large dog like a boxer with sharp teeth and strong body coming their way can make anyone cross the street to prevent an encounter with such a mean looking dog. Even their name may come off as intimidating. A boxer is a fighter and a warrior. None knows for sure how this dog got its breed name but some people speculate that it is because of the way a boxer starts fighting with his front paws similar to the actual human boxers. So are boxers really mean and aggressive as many people think they are?

Contrary to popular belief, most boxers are not the mean and rough dogs that they are believed to be. Boxers are gentle and kind dogs at heart. They have a childish personality throughout their whole life, starting from when they are puppies up to even the adult stage of their life. Boxers are always looking for ways to have fun and never get tired of playing games with their owners and people. Although boxers need some socializing training when they are young, they are great with people and love meeting new friends.

Boxers are the type of dogs that would rather sit on their owners lap all day long than go out and play outside on their own. They love hanging around their owners and family and need a lot of attention and care. Boxers are also great for families with kids. Both are playful and curious so they would make the perfect playmates. Which is great became both have a lot of energy which they have to put somewhere and they can burn off some of that energy just playing together.

If you plan on owning a boxer then you better have a big yard for your boxer to run around at. Since boxers are large dogs, they need a lot of exercise. It would also be a great idea to take out your boxer for runs at the park. Exercising is an important part in keeping the boxer dogs happy and healthy. Lack of exercise can lead to problems so if you don’t think you can take your boxer out on a run at least couple times a week and don’t own a big yard for your boxer to run around at then it’s best if you look for a smaller dog that doesn’t need as much exercise.

Boxers have medium length fur which is a lot better than long hair that some of the other dogs have. A dog with long hair can guarantee you that you will never walk out of the house without some hair on you. Boxers however still need a lot of grooming. You need to wash them regularly which can be a bit of time consuming, but if you keep the boxer clean he will appreciate it and love you even more.

So if you don’t mind having all the hair and have enough room to keep the boxer puppy, why not get one. Boxers are family oriented dogs and will stay loyal to you once they are trained well, you can find out more about boxer training by visiting the Boxer Training guide. Boxer breed dogs are some of the kindest dogs out there and can be a great addition to your home and family.
