Chapter 4

I was lying on my bed when I heard a knock on the door; I ran to the door and opened it.
"Ally!" I screamed when I saw my best friend. "Hey!" We hugged and went straight for my couch.
"And how are you? I haven’t seen you in a while since you went to work for that place" "I know and I’m sorry, I just really want to concentrate on my work, I can’t let anything go wrong, You know how my boss is…" "I don’t know how you can’t like him. He is very, very hot, I went looking for you today, but you were out and he was there." "He is I won’t lei. It’s a real shame that he is such an ass!" "He was quite friendly to me; I don’t think he’s that bad" "Oh he is that bad! and you know what bothers me? He is actually nice to everyone except me! I don’t know why, but that man just can’t handle me, I don’t know what to do anymore!"

"Kylie!" I heard from Lester’s office. I stood up and went in. "Yes?" "Can you please help me with these boxes; I want to carry them to my car." "Sure" "Thanks, you can take these for now and I’ll take those" He said handing it to me. I took a step, but accidentally tripped over the chair, because I couldn’t see over the boxes, he then tripped over me and fell on top of me. Alex came in when he heard the noise and saw Lester on top of me. "Miss Anderson, can I please see you in my office" He said sounding very angry. Oh no.

I went into his office and closed the door. He looked at me and started talking in a rough tone. "I was right about you. You’re not here for the job; you are only here to get a rich man that you can use to climb your way up the social ladder!" "Wha…"
"I knew it from the first moment I saw you and it didn’t take you long either, you already have Lester in your claws" "I don…" "Miss Anderson I don’t want to spoil it for you, but at this company we have a policy that forbids our employees from dating so even if Lester was stupid enough to fall for you, you will never be able to pull it off and…"
"Would you just let me talk!!! You can’t just accuse me of something like that!!! And not even give me a chance to defend myself! I can’t believe you think that of me, you don’t even know me!"

"Oh trust me I know girls like you. You use your looks to seduce men and use them to get somewhere in the world and once you’re there he means nothing to you!"
"For your information, I came here because I have always wanted to work here and for no other reason!" "You didn’t even come here yourself, your aunt had to organize this for you!"
"Because she wanted to help me! I would have come here alone! And do you have any idea how hard I worked just to get this far!" "Oh please, spare me. If it were up to me I’d fire you right now, but unfortunately I can’t fire you for seducing my partner. Let me just warn you that this may never happen again or else I will fire you"

I just turned around and walked out, No wonder he treats me like that, he thinks I’m just here to improve my social status. He doesn’t even know me!!! I was never so mad in my life!
The next day was tough. There was a very uncomfortable atmosphere at work. Alex ignored me the whole time. I can’t go on like this I don’t want to resign; I’ve worked way too hard to get here. I’ll just have to talk to him and try to explain to him that he really has the wrong impression of me.

Alex’s pov
That girl thinks she has everyone fooled. She got everyone to like her; I don’t know how she did it, why can’t they see through her?
"You look like you’re in deep thought" Lester said walking into my office.
"I am. Lester I need to talk to you" "About?" "Kylie." "She’s cute, huh?" "Lester I know she’s a beautiful woman, but you need to be careful, she’s only using you." "Alex you know me, I’m not a one woman man. No woman will be able to have me. And besides why would you say that, it’s not like there’s something going on between us…or did she say anything?" "No I just thought you had something going." "Nah. I’m trying though, but this girl isn’t very easy, she just doesn’t seem interested"

Kylie’s pov
I knocked on his door determined to sort this out. "Yes?" "I know you’re busy, but I need to talk to you." "Make it quick." "Look I don’t know why you think like you do of me, but I can assure you that I never intended to come here to meet important people or make someone like me so that I can be "known" and I just want you to know that"
"You won’t be able to soft talk me. I can see right through you."
"I don’t understand how you can just judge me. You don’t know me at all and I’ve done nothing wrong. You were on my case since the first day I came here. Why me? Why am I the one that’s here for the wrong reasons, why not Lisa or any other woman working here, why me!? " "I just know it; you made friends with everyone to get them to trust you." "Since when was it a crime to make friends!? "You want them to not see any wrong in you so you can be covered when you’re plans go wrong!"
"I can’t believe you" I said walking out deciding to rather walk away or else I might get a heart attack.
