Chapter 2 - Sangue Bevitore Vampire
"Aaren, wait!" I started walking after my boyfriend who stormed off into our room rather upset. Mum turned around and handed me November. "Wait here, I'll have a word with him." I nodded and pressed November lightly against my chest and walked into the lounge room. Just as I was about to sit down, loud banging sounds came from the front door, I jumped in fright and stood in front of the television, facing the door a good ten meters away. "Haviana, open this door, your house is surrounded!" Oh God. It was the Malakai, the world's most known vampire hunter. "MUM!" I screamed as loud as I could, Aaren and mum came rushing in. "They are here, they have found us!" I panicked pointing towards the door. Mum swallowed and grabbed my arm. "The passage in the cellar," she whispered, "take Aaren and November. Go to the safe house." Mum started pushing me and Aaren towards the other side of the house.
"If you don't give in, and let us terminate November, we will have to kill you all!" Malakai yelled furiously. "But mum, you have to come too!" I urged as tears rolled down my cheeks. "No, I'll distract them. Once I know you are far enough, I'll destroy the tunnel and drive to the safe house. They can't kill humans." "But what if they are already there?" I started breathing heavily, this was too much stress. "They won't be, I promise." I nodded and led Aaren into the cellar, and gave him our baby. "It's one of these books.." I mumbled pulling every book in the bookshelf until I pulled the green "Thesaurus" sixth to the right on the fourth shelf, and the bookshelf opened like a door, leading into a dark passage way. I indicated to Aaren and we sped off down the dark walkway. My eyes went into night mode, and everything seemed like daytime, I can tell this happened to Aaren as well because he had no trouble keeping up with me.
An hour passed and we were still running. "How much longer?" Aaren asked impatiently, still sprinting right behind me. "November is hungry, I can tell." "We're nearly there, just around this bend." I answered quickly so that he wouldn't keep asking questions and complaining. "Here's the door." I came to a quick halt and Aaren stumbled behind me forcing himself to a sudden stop. "Amorus Verdetta Draculous Nardera Merchilago."
I whispered loud enough for the door to hear me. Light suddenly filled the walkway as the door spun open. "What was that about?" Aaren asked confused. "It's the passcode, my great grandfather's name. He was a Sangue Bevitore Vampire, which is a vampire that is mortal and still has a human heart and blood flow, but lives on human blood. He's still alive though, being taken care of by immortal vampires, constantly keeping him hooked up to a blood supply. He's about two hundred and forty now. He only looks fifty though. I'll take November to see him once she's older. He's very wise, everybody goes to him to find out things about the future, past and present."
I smiled and led Aaren into the safe house. It was a small cottage with white-colored walls, a fireplace, an old vintage radio and everything. "There's even a crib for Nova, I led him into the spare room with a double bed and a wooden crib in the corner opposite to the bed. He gently placed her in the crib and followed me into the kitchen. "Bottles are in the cupboard above the sink, could you please get me one?" I asked Aaren while I grabbed a carving knife from the drawer. He nodded and gave me a plastic bottle. I held my wrist over the bottle and sliced open the skin to let the blood drip into the bottle. Aaren hated watching me do this. He turned away and squinted his eyes in horror. I filled the bottle and wrapped my arm in the tea towel on the bench. "Done." I said with a smile and handed Aaren the bottle. "Nova will be wanting that badly, you better go and give it to her before she cries." I winked and he raced off into the spare bedroom. I can't feed her because it's my blood she drinks, and if I fed it to her, there's a possibility she could bite me and poison me, which would kill me because she came out of my womb. I slumped onto the couch and started wondering where mum could be.
I started having flashbacks from when I was turned into a vampire. I was only 16, I suffered from brain tumor. The doctors couldn't remove it because I would die. So mum got in contact with her brother Flynn, who was a vampire, and he changed me while I was asleep. I remember not being able to open my eyes, and hearing my mum crying. My brain tumor disappeared because the vampire poison killed it. I became normal and healthy, just stuck at 16. I met Aaren and had November before I was told I had a tumor. Nova was born a month after I was changed. She was perfectly normal and healthy, except that she needed blood, not milk, to survive. She is a Sangue Bevitore Vampire just like my great grandfather Amorus.
I got lost in thought and Aaren came back into the room and sat down beside me. He put his arm around my shoulder and I leaned against him. "Do you think mum will be alright?" I asked in fear that Malakai might have hurt her. "She'll be fine. Your mum is rough as guts." He chuckled and I giggled. "I hope she gets back soon..." I whispered. A few minutes later I fell asleep in his arms.
