The Blind Angel 14

She arrives...
* * *
Kaire walked until her lags gave out on her and she fell in to the sand (it didn’t help that she was tired before she started walking). There was a wind that had started up and was now going faster; blowing sand at Kaire and stinging her exposed skin. Kaire just lay there. Wanting to die, or for this night-mare to end with her waking up in her bed at Devesy. Nothing happened and soon, like Shadow predicted, the sand storm was attacking Kaire. Sand bit her skin, making it fill like glass was in the wind and not sand. Then all of a sudden the sand stopped hitting her. Felt around her and to her surprise there was an orb surrounding her, and protecting her. Kaire then laid there and waited out the storm, never letting her self fall asleep.
After what felt like days, Kaire started to get stiff and she repositioned her self. But it didn’t help so she stood up carefully, expecting to hit the orb, got up. When she didn’t hit the orb she felt around her to make sure it was still there. It was just a few inches above her head, but Kaire thought that it was smaller. So she sat back down and felt for the top, and just like she remembered it was just a few inches above her head. "It must rise when I rise," Kaire thought getting up again and this time walking around. Kaire found out that the sand wasn’t on top of the orb and that she was able to start walking to the Dungeon Forest again, and she did just that.
Soon the orb around Kaire vanished and Kaire was left to the heat of the desert. Some time in the day/night Kaire started to hear horses and guessed that she was hearing things. Her mind wandered to Mikey, who she declared buried and dead. Then a voice called to Kaire and to her surprise it was Mikey. Kaire was wondering how he could possible survive a sand storm when he road up next to her. "Kaire thank the goddesses that you’re alive. I thought you were buried and dead for sure," Kaire kept walking, and every now and then checking her compass, never, trying, to look at Mikey or even talk to him. "Kaire please talk and hear me out. I was sick in the head, because I was so worried, when I kissed you. I just didn’t want to lose you…well I still don’t, but forcefully kissing you won’t help. Please for give me, you have to understand my situation," Mikey pleaded.
There was silence as Kaire thought about what Mikey said. Finally she said, "as long as you promise not to kiss me again, then I will forgive you," not really caring if he did promise or not just wanting to get on a horse because her feet felt like they were about to fall off. Mikey did promise and to Kaire’s relief she was offered a horse to rest her lags. They traveled for less then a day before they hit the edge of the Dungeon Forest. They set up camp and before going to bed Kaire asked Mikey to listen to her. "Mikey listen, you can’t go into the Dungeon Forest and I don’t want you to get killed. So we have to part her and go are different ways." Mikey didn’t argue, but what Kaire didn’t know was that he didn’t have any intentions of leaving her side.
Kaire fell asleep and again didn’t see Shay. It had been five nights of sleep and without Shay there. Kaire was sure that he wasn’t coming back. Kaire got up to the songs of birds. She could fill on her skin that the sun was near the horizon. She quickly and quietly got dressed, not wanting to wake Mikey, and headed in to the forest. Kaire walked/stumbled through the forest blindly. Then Kaire stopped for she thought she heard footsteps behind her. When she stopped so did the footsteps but a second to late and Kaire knew that she was indeed being followed.
She knew it was stooped, for the creature mite not understand, but she called out any way, "who’s there?" She was reworded with her worst fears being foretold because Mikey answered that it was just him. "Mikey get back to Devesy. This forest is not safe for you."
"If there not safe for me than there not safe for you ether, Kaire, so lets get the horses and go back to the village together."
"Mikey, Akasha’s chasing me, remember? And what’s in this forest won’t hurt a mirshann…but it will hurt and kill a rivven." Mikey was confused and Kaire could tell because of his voice and his question, "What’s a mirshann…and a rivven?"
"You are rivven all mortals are. I’m a mirshann or what you rivven call angels. Tim isn’t my true father and I was never born in Devesy I don’t belong there. I have powers and that should explain the incident on the bridge and why I woke up covered in blood, but most importantly why Akasha’s after me," Kaire said in one breath but that’s all she got to say because after that a pain almost unbearable ripped through Kaire’s head and she fell to the ground unconscious.
She was dreaming, she knew this because she could see what was around her. The girl was in a pasture with flowers surrounding her on all sides, and there was a boy just beyond the flowers that were encircling Kaire. Without noticing it Kaire was crying. Tears streaked her dusty face and fell in to her lap. "You came back," she said with love in her voice. Then she stood up slowly, trying to control herself, and walked toward the boy. She stopped inches from him the wind blew gently on Kaire’s skin and she thought, this is as close as I can get to heaven while I’m still alive. The boy opened his arms, and Kaire walked into them and was enclosed in his sweet hug.
"I told you I couldn’t leave you. I just love you too much," he said and, like the first time, his voice was gentle and sweet, almost echoing on the wind. Kaire looked up and to her amazement saw that the hood of the cloak, Shay was wearing, was down. Shay had black hair that, almost, came to his shoulder. His eyes were of the deepest blue and looked like cat eyes. His skin was a soft light brown and he was the cutest boy Kaire had ever seen. Kaire slowly lifted her hand up and touched Shay’s face as if to make sure it was real, and then they were kissing. Shay’s soft lips covered Kaire’s and his tongue slowly invaded Kaire’s mouth. Kaire felt like she was going to melt with joy and she would have fallen to the ground if Shay had not had her in his soft grip.
Kaire rapt her arms around Shay’s neck and deepened the kiss. She was lost in the kiss and thought of nothing but Shay. The kiss was over before Kaire knew it and she was sad that it had to end at all. She was panting and then she remembered Mikey.
She put her forehead on Shay’s chest and asked in a soft voice, "He’s dead isn’t he?"
"Yes, the creature that knocked you out didn’t spare him his life." Tears streaked down Kaire’s face and once she started she couldn’t stop crying. Shay slowly sat down and cradled Kaire close to his chest rocking back and forth trying to sooth her. Finally Kaire quieted and fell a sleep in Shay’s arms.
Kaire woke to a humming noise by her ear and some whispering. She then realized she was up against something hard and guessed, by how rough it was, that it was a tree. Her wrists were tied around the tree. The rope that was restraining her was cutting into her wrists and she thought she could fill old blood on the rope. She opened her eyes the humming and whispering stopped abruptly and something small landed on her shoulder. A creature cleared its throat and started to speak, "You have trespassed into the domain of the dragon fly, please speak your name and what you are doing here." Kaire hesitated and tried not to laugh for the voice was so high pinched it almost sounded like squeaks instead of a voice.
Then the vice spoke again, "are you deaf, or can you not understand me mortal?" Kaire was trying not to laugh but it was in vain. Just as Kaire was about to settle down the creature spoke again, "What is the matter with you?" Kaire went into a fit of laughter until her sides hurt then she managed to say, "Please don’t speak your voice sounds so funny."
"Is that an insult? I do not like insults. You will be punished you will suffer and-" the creature was interrupted by another who’s voice was a soft stream and yet held the power of the ocean and it said, "Mouse stop it. The creature that you speak to is not a mortal but a mirshann and you will show her some amount of respect." There was a gasp and then the creature, Mouse, said that she was sorry and that she meant no harm. Then the creature with the soft voice said, "Blossom would you be so kind as to untie our gust?" Rope loosened and then came off. Kaire rubbed the sore wrists and said a quiet thank you.
"Mirshann, please tell me your name and what you are doing here. I mite be able to help you.
"My name is Kaire, and I came here looking for a faire by the name of Colleen."
"The faire named Colleen will be here shortly but I do think you are lying. For you say you are looking for her but you can not see. So how can you look for the unseen?"
"Yes, it’s true I am blind, but I was still looking for her in my own way."
"Well if you wanted I could cure that blindness for you. By the way my name is Shiva and I am the queen of fairies." Kaire was speechless. Then she considered it and thought that it sounded too good to be true but she wanted to try all the same.
"What do I have to do," she asked with determination in her voice.
"First close your eyes and keep them closed until I say." Kaire did as she was told and she felt cloth go over her eyes and then tied to her head. Shiva said to open her eyes and Kaire did but she was not prepared for what happened. There in front of her were about a hundred fairies in every color you could imagine. Kaire didn’t ask how they did it she was just happy to be able to see. As many fairies as there were, only one caught Kaire’s eye. A faire with fair skin and light blue hair was right in front of her. The faire also had a sparkling blue dress on and dark blue eyes.
"Why do you have so much blue?" Kaire asked.
"Because the elements I control are ice and water and both are blue." Shiva said.
"Do all fairies control an element?"
"No, only important fairies like me for instants. I am queen so I am important and my daughter Colleen is princess and she has an element."
"Colleen is your daughter?"
"That’s what I said. Speak of the devil and she will come," Shiva said as Colleen walked in, at least Kaire thought it was Colleen.
Colleen had pale skin and her hair was different then anything Kaire had ever seen. On the very top it was white then it blended in to a pink that went red at the bottom. Her eyes were a blood red and she was wearing a fire red dress. She was also only about five feet tall, like all the other fairies. Kaire guessed her element was Fire. When she spoke she had an accent of some sort. She spoke to the queen with suspicion in her voice but not unkindly, "Hay, you wanted something?"
"Your gust has arrived."

Kaire was taken to a bedroom that was just the right size for her. She was able to get a bath then she was given a white dress and was told that there was going to be a calibration to night. Most of the fairies already knew of her come to fined Colleen because Shay told them. Kaire was at the calibration when she saw him. He was in a black cloak and was in the shadows. Kaire walked up to him and looked at him expectantly and when he didn’t say anything she poked him and asked, "And what do you think you are doing here?"
