The Blind Angel 10

Kaire lay there not knowing how long she resisted sleep. She tried to clear her mind and think of nothing but it was in vain. Every time she tried the image of Shay in front of the crater would come to her eyes, then the horror of what could have happened would rush to Kaire over and over again. Finally Mikey got up, he moved around the room as thought he didn’t care if he woke Kaire or not. He got to Kaire’s bed side and whispered quietly, "Kaire, wake up its time to leave," then out of nowhere he kissed her right on the mouth. His lips were soft in a harsh way, like sand sliding through your fingers. The kiss was slow, but Kaire didn’t care that Mikey was kissing her because it made the terrible image go away. She wasn’t thinking at all, Kaire was lost in the kiss unable to understand what was happening at all. Then everything came to a screeching halt as her head cleared and she was able to think again. She pushed Mikey away slowly so she wouldn’t hurt his fillings and said, "Don’t Mikey not right now please," but Mikey would listen he grabbed Kaire by the arms and pined them by her side and kissed her again.

This time he didn’t go gently, he tried to force her mouth apart so he could get inside but Kaire wouldn’t let him. "The girl said stop," a voice said coming from behind Kaire. Mikey posed and in that instant Kaire, with as much force as she could muster, hit her head agents Mikey’s sending Mikey sprawling on the floor. A burst of pain attacked Kaire’s head making her curl up into a ball and hold her head.

"What the hell," Mikey screamed still on the floor but now in a sitting position. The person that spoke before came to Kaire’s side and laid a soft hand on her shoulder. Slowly but surely the pain in Kaire’s head receded then vanished completely. Kaire gradually got up and when she felt no pain said thanks to the stranger.

"You’re welcome," he said in a smooth voice. Then Kaire realized who was talking to her.

"Shadow," Kaire said over delight that he was here.

His next few words were solemn but serious, "Shay wants to talk with you."

"I don’t want to talk to Shay so he can suffer," Kaire said stubbornly.

"Well you can’t evade him forever; you do need sleep some time,"

"Well if I do fall asleep I can wake myself up,"

"Yes, but that will hurt his fillings. Kaire he’s not mad at you he’s actually mad at himself and me, of course."

"I can see why he would be mad at you, but why is he mad at himself?"

"You will have to ask him that you’re self." There was silence for a moment then Kaire asked, "You knew I was there, didn’t you?"

"Yes," was his short answer.

"Then why did you do what you did when you knew I was watching?" Kaire asked.

"Because, you needed to know how fierce Shay can get. He is one of most powerful mirsann I know. You needed to know that, as nice as Shay is with you, he can lose his temper and kill you with one strike. He’s done it before with another child he was guarding and he can do it again."

"Do you want me to hate him or be scared of his so I avoid him?" Kaire said in a soft voice.

"No, I just want you to be careful," Shadow said quietly. Then he gently pressed his palm on Kaire’s forehead and slowly Kaire fell asleep.
