The Betrayal (Chapter 3)

Chloe struggled past the rushing crowd. She had finally found him and now she was losing him. She growled and shoved people out of her way becoming weary of their sluggishness. She couldn't lose him. No. She wouldn't lose him. She caught sight of him running through the crowd people parting for him to pass. She muttered an oath and began to run after him hoping she wouldn't lose him. "Wait!" She yelled as loud as she could. He looked over his should and gave her a perplexed look before slowing down to a walk. "Do I know you?" She stopped and looked him up and down. "Are you Daniel?" He nodded and she looked around. "Do you live around here or are you in a hotel?" He informed her that he was staying in a shitty motel. "We need to get there as soon as possible. They might be watching us." He looked around swiftly and she grabbed his arm and shook him. "Don't look so suspicious. In this large of a group no one can just point us out." They walked a few more blocks until they came upon an almost demolished hotel. "How did you manage to find this place?" He walked up to a door and opened it up. "When you move around a lot you find whatever you can fast." She nodded in understanding and entered the run down motel. "We can't stay here." He said as soon as she sat on the bed. "We need to talk first before we make the next step." She stood up and told him to sit down. "I am like you Daniel Thorpe. I was an experiment of the corrupted once but I escaped as you did." He looked at her with shocked expression. "How did you know my name? How did you even escape?" She put her hands up to stop his questions trying to get what she had to say out. "In all the commotion that you created my tank was drained and I began to think for the first time in two years-." A knock at the door had them both jumping and Daniel shot out of his seat and walked over to the door. He peeped through the peep hole and then opened the door. "Pay up buck-O." Daniel pulled out 50 bucks and before he could hand him the money a gun was pointed at his head. "I'm sorry man they made me do it. He threatened to kill me in front of my family." Daniel put his hands in the air as ordered and looked back to see that the girl had hid herself somehow. The man was pushed aside and a thuggish looking guy walked inside and slammed the door. "Give me everything man. Money and jewelry now I want everything you got." Suddenly the thug was on the floor unconscious and Chloe appeared. "I have the power to become invisible. It helps in these certain situations." Daniel rubbed the back of his neck. "What's your name? I don't believe you ever told me." She smiled and unarmed the man. "Name's Chloe Handersnap. Nice to finally meet you Daniel Thorpe."
