The Beauty of Death - Chapter 1
Here goes the first chapter. Cherise and Kole are best friends since they were young. So why all of a sudden is Kole being so cold toward her. What did she do? But as Cherise digs deeper to know the truth she risks her heart being crushed by the one she loves the most. And on top of that she might be about to uncover a secret that might cost her, her life, plunge her into an unknown world and open her eyes to THE BEAUTY OF DEATH.
Chapter 1 - It begins
"Have you ever thought about why things are named what they are, Kole?"
"How do you mean?"
"Well, like how rice is called rice and sprinkles are called sprinkles. If you ask me sprinkles are a much more appropriate name for rice because more kids would eat it. Then sprinkles would be called rice and no kid would eat it which would mean a healthier generation!"
"Is this just your way of trying to justify your own distaste for rice?"
"I like yellow rice thank you very much!"
"Doesn't count cause it isn't really that healthy."
"Is too!"
"Whatever helps you sleep at night Cherise."
And that's how the distancing began. I know you probably think I'm overreacting but Kole and I are best friends since 5th grade. We always had this debate on whether yellow rice is healthy or not, which I totally say it is. We'd argue for hours until someone told us to shut up. But he didn't even put up an argument. He just disregarded it like it was nothing. This argument had been why we even talked to each other in the first place!
"Um, Kole are you ok?"
"Yeah", he said as he got up to leave.
"Wait, where are you going?"
"Home."
"But you just got here!"
"Well I have to get going. I'm meeting up with someone later."
"Ohhh! Can I come?"
"No." I was surprised at his harsh tone. But more than surprised I was hurt.
"Um, okay sorry I asked." I mentally slapped myself for sounding so weak and hurt. I got up and left before he had the chance to say anything. I thought it would be nice to just lie in the grass under the big tree in my backyard, but I guess he thought otherwise.
"Bye" I yelled as I ran off in the direction of the park.
"Cherise wait!" I heard him yell but I just kept running and running until I couldn't feel anything anymore.
