The Beatles Remastered CDs are out 9/9/9

Ever since The Beatles albums were first released on CD in 1987, Beatles fans have been wondering when they would do it again. Why? Because the mastering job was less than stellar. Now (on 9/9/9) The Beatles are finally releasing remastered versions of their legendary albums on CD.
The Beatles albums were first released on CD in 1987. Those CDs (which have become the way most people hear The Beatles music since then) have been roundly panned both for the sound of the albums (the mastering) and the packaging.

After 22 years these problems are going to finally be rectified by the new remastered versions of The Beatles albums being released on CD on 9/9/9. Not only do these remastered versions sound better (with more clarity and detail.) They also come with much cooler packaging (replicas of the original vinyl packaging.)

All 13 of the Beatles original UK albums (including Magical Mystery Tour which is somewhat controversial as it wasn't originally intended as an album but only an EP) will be included in a stereo CD box set. This will be the easy way to get every single song The Beatles released in the 1960s in remastered stereo. It includes the Past Masters compilation which has all of the non-album Beatles songs on it.

But there's more than just these remastered versions of the stereo mixes that most Beatles fans already own on CD coming out on 9/9/9. The original mono mixes of The Beatles first 10 albums will be included on CD for the very first time ever as a part of the Beatles mono box set.

If you're wondering why 3 albums are missing from this box set it's because the band's final 3 albums were never mixed in mono. Those 3 albums are Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, & Abbey Road.

These original mono mixes will allow newer Beatles fans (those who grew up in the CD era) to hear the Beatles songs as they were originally intended to be heard for the very first time.

When these albums were being mixed, much more time was spent on the mono mixes. They were the way that most people listened to music back then so it only made sense for them to concentrate on those mono mixes while the stereo mixes were basically just "thrown together" after wards. This is why many Beatles fans consider these mono versions of The Beatles albums to be the "true" Beatles albums.

But it's more than simply a matter of hearing The Beatles music in an "historically accurate" way. Many have actually said that the mono mixes sound better than the stereo mixes. They are said to be "more powerful." Among those who have made the claim that the mono mixes are better (in particular with regards to the 1967 classic Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) was none other than Beatles legend John Lennon.

So how much better do the remastered versions of The Beatles songs sound in comparison to those on the previously released CDs? You can hear clips of some of The Beatles remastered songs online.

To find out how you canhear these clips (it's easy & free to do.) By listening to a few of these clips you can get some idea of whether these new remastered CDs are worth your money.

You should also consider that streaming online audio is never going to sound quite as good as a CD. These clips are only to give you some idea of the changes you will hear with the new Beatles CDs.
