The Battle of Gettysburg
Describes the battle of Gettysburg haha! A man going through the whole battle until the end..
It's Meade against Lee
As the war heads north
Shots ring out
As the battle comes forth
More and more come
As they hear the shots ring
It's evening now
But my wounds already sting
On to July 3,
But I'm still fighting strong
I'm led by George Picket
As we're advancing along
My friends fall before me
As we run across the field
Following Pickett's lead
Though how I wish I had a shield
As I reach the center
I am quickly driven back
Only a few confederates surround me
How many, we now lack
Rifle fire rushes by me
And something painful hits my side
But I know just to keep running
As I stifled out my cries
My hand is turning red
As I hold it to my wound
Some troops have already fled
I think the battle's ending soon
I see the white flag flying
We can finally retreat
I hear all our troops sighing
As we lose our dignity
Lee's calculating the damages
That's one third of our troops gone
My side is aching horribly
And I don't know if I can go on
Lee's chanting to himself
As he rides by my tent
These are the words I overheard
These are the words that he has said,
"It's all my fault
It is I who have lost this fight"
So now as I lie dying here
I wonder if he's right.
