The Bachelor’s Mary Delgado Arrested
Former Bachelor contestant and winner Mary Delgado was arrested early Wednesday morning on charges of assaulting fiancé Byron Velvick.

Mere hours after appearing on ABC’s After the Rose special Delgado was arrested for allegedly assaulting former Bachelor Byron Velvick. Delgado was given the final rose and a marriage proposal on the sixth season finale by Velvick. The couple has lived together for almost three years and appeared on ABC’s as a success story for The Bachelor/ette franchise. The former NFL cheerleader and the pro Bass fisherman said that they were planning to get married next year. Delgado even stated that she had taken up fishing telling the audience, "I love this man so much that I have fallen in love with the sport that he loves."
Delgado and Velvick reportedly got into an alcohol-fueled argument at the townhouse they share in Tampa, Florida at approximately 12:15 Wednesday morning. Allegedly Delgado hit Velvick in the face and split his upper lip. He reportedly refused medical treatment. Delgado, 40, was arrested at the scene and taken to the Pinellas County Jail. She was charged with one count of battery, fingerprinted, and photographed. After spending 14 hours at the jail she was released late Wednesday afternoon and faces up to one year in jail. Reps for the show have reportedly not commented on the arrest.
The show has not had a very successful track record. Out of 11 seasons of The Bachelor only Delgado and Velvick remained together and now that remains to be seen. Of the three seasons of The Bachelorette only Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter have lasted. The couple is now married and recently welcomed their first child – Maxwell Alston. Maybe it is time to call it quits on this show…while entertaining in a train wreck sort of way…it doesn’t seem to be a very successful way of meeting your potential love match.
