Niamah inhaled deeply. She shouldn't have done that. He was valuable...he could've given them so much information. So much! She winced as Jacob lay his hand on her shoulder.
"You okay?" he asked tenderly.
Niamah nodded, unable to speak just yet. The way she had gotten so antagonized...it was way past unprofessional. A rookie could've done better than that! She cursed herself and then drew herself up to full height.
"We need to get back to HQ. I need to explain to Alfie" she gulped and made for the car. Jacob was worried about her. She was usually so calm and held together. This wasn't her style. It was making her careless and...what are you doing Jacob? He asked himself. She's your friend...you should be supporting her not criticizing! He tucked his gun away and hurried to the car. Niamah wound her window down.
"Let's go"

As soon as they knocked on Alfie's door they knew something was up. Niamah glanced at Tracey, Alfie's secretary, who was standing by the door, anxiously looking at the phone her boss was speaking into. Niamah strode over and stood right in front of him. He wasn't saying anything, just listening. He mouthed a hello to her but she didn't reply. He narrowed his eyes. Only he knew that when Niamah was pissed off that she retreated into herself.
"Yes, of course. I'll certainly tell her" he suddenly said. Then he said goodbye and hung up the phone. Niamah wasted no time.
"Who was that? What's going on?" They hadn't found out already had they?
Alfie beamed at her.
"Jayden is awake!" he told her. Niamah broke out into a smile, but then started crying. They were silent tears but they were enough to alarm both Jacob and Alfie. They had never seen her cry before. She just wasn't the type. Awkwardly Alfie patted her back while she cried onto his shoulder. Jacob left the room but came back with some Kleenex. Wiping under her eyes Niamah thanked them both.
"We need to go now" she said and hurried out the room.
"Wait! What about the site?" Jacob called.
She shrugged. She didn't care about that right now. She just wanted to see Jayden.

The night nurse looked up as Niamah walked into the hospital. She smiled but Niamah didn't have time for politeness.
"I'm here to see Jayden Shane". The nurse smiled apologetically.
"I'm sorry love, but he had some medication and he's sleeping."
"I don't care. I'll stay till he wakes up"
"You couldn't poss-"
"I said, I don't care" Niamah hissed. The nurse swallowed and glanced at Jacob who shrugged. She forced a smile and gestured for them to go ahead.
"Calm down" he whispered in her ear as they got out the lift. Niamah ignored him, instead heading for Jayden's room like a bullet. Surprisingly she opened the door quietly, looking at Jacob before closing it. He understood that. He sat down on a chair outside and waited.
*NIAMAH*
This was the moment I had been waiting for for weeks. I slowly inched my way across the room, scared the doctors and nurses were lying and he was still in a coma. It was hard to tell. Tears were sliding down my cheeks as I picked up his hand and stood next to the bed. I pleaded for it to be true and for him to wake up. I leaned over him and kissed his cheek. Then I sat down on the chair, still gripping his hand, and waited.
I think about half an hour passed. I was thinking about the night of the accident when I felt his fingers twitch. I looked up.
"Jayden?" I whispered, no answer.
"Baby?"
He groaned and I exclaimed. I clutched his fingers harder, and watched as he turned his head towards me.
"N-N-Nia...mah?" he croaked.
"Yes?" I asked, still stunned.
"You're...crushing...my hand".
"Oh" I eased my grip up.
"Thanks"
I leaned forward and brushed hair off his sweaty forehead. He smiled slightly.
"I missed you" I whispered.
"You were in m dreams" he answered. He was making this so hard...i started crying again.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he tried to cover my hand with his but I didn't let it go.
"I love you so much!" I gasped through my tears.
"I love you too". I buried my face in his hair and just sobbed. For the first time in my life, I really cried. I let it all out and you know what? It felt good. And when I was done his eyes were open and I could stare into those gorgeous eyes and just get lost. Even in his ill state I knew what he was thinking. His eyes were twinkling. I laughed a little but pressed my lips against his and had the satisfaction of hearing his heartbeat speed up a little. He chuckled weakly and cradled my face in his palm.
"I missed that" he said and I kissed him again. I didn't kiss him properly. I wanted to snog his face off and do plenty more than that. But he was ill, and I wanted him out as soon as possible. So I promised him later, when he was a lot better, then I would kiss him like I really wanted to. He was happy enough with that.
A doctor came in, saw me and frowned.
"You shouldn't be in here" he pointed out and then noticed Jayden was awake. His face softened and he came over.
After he had done all his checks he told me that I had to go now. After a long kiss goodbye, to Dr's annoyance, I left. Jacob was asleep, stretched out on the waiting chairs. Laughing, I poked him in the face and watched as he fell off them. When he had glared at me and called me an annoying bratty whore, we left.
"Everything alright then?" he asked as we pulled out the hospital.
"Yes" I grinned. Now we just needed to persuade Alfie to fly us to France.
"You okay?" he asked tenderly.
