The Assassin's Love 18

Deal or no Deal.
Niamah wiped the tear that was making its way down her cheek. She shouldn’t be crying, there wasn’t much to cry about. Except the fact that Jayden was in a coma. More tears followed. She flicked them away and gripped his hand. It was as unresponsive as the monitors beside him.
"Please wake up" she whispered.
"Just open your eyes and you’ll be fine. I love you. Please…just open your eyes".

"Oh, no need to cry" she heard, she spun round in her seat and saw Alfie. Automatically she reached for the Glock hidden under her vest, in her waistband. Alfie raised an eyebrow but did nothing else but smiled.
"Why are you here?!" Niamah hissed.
"To see Jayden of course"
"I wouldn’t have thought you cared. You were the one after all, who put him in here" she narrowed her eyes.
Alfie rolled his eyes and moved towards the bed.
"He works for me Niamah. Of course I’m going to visit him. He’s one of my best field agents".

Niamah still kept the gun raised. If he tried anything, she would shoot, no hesitation. She hadn’t forgotten his ‘threat’. She watched him; as he glanced at the monitors, picked up the file on the end of the bed, read it then dropped it back in place.
"Where’s Daniel?" she asked after he sat down opposite her, she had to find out.
"Who?"
"Oh you mean that boy who works with you?" he replied.
"Don’t act like you don’t know!"
Alfie frowned.
"I don’t know. Why would I?"
"Because you kidnapped him!" she whisper-shouted.
"No. I did not" he looked offended, and genuinely confused.

Niamah had to stop and think. Alfie honestly didn’t know what she was talking about? Or was he just a really good actor? Another glance at his confusion ruled out the first. But- if Alfie didn’t have him. Who did? No one but Alfie had any motive.
"Sorry" she shrugged.
"Am I right in thinking that he’s been kidnapped, and you have no idea who or why?" he said softly.
It surprised her. She had forgotten that he had a soft, gentle side to him.
"Yes"
"I have an idea" he said after a moment of silence. Niamah gestured for him to go on.

"Make a deal. If I help you to find Daniel, then you join MI5 again" he said slowly.
Niamah’s gaze shot up, fixed on him in des-belief. What?
"What!?"
"You heard" he shrugged.

Could she do it? For Daniel’s sake? Could she give up the freedom of working when she wanted, on what she wanted by herself? Go back to MI5? Be a robot, which followed all orders? Yes she could. If it was for Daniel, if it would help. Besides, MI5 wasn’t all that bad. She couldn’t lie ad say that it was horrible; it had been an exciting and fun experience. She had decided, and Alfie knew her decision before she even opened her pretty little lips.
"Okay. I’ll do it. But I expect you to help me with whatever I want. If I need back-up I want it. If I need weapons or surveillance, I want it" Alfie agreed, it was the price he had to pay, if he wanted hi best agent back. Alfie glanced at Jayden whispered something in his ear. Niamah frowned? Was he not aware that Jayden was unconscious?

Alfie left after that, saying he was going to alert everyone to be on the lookout for any information about Daniel. He smirked to himself as he stepped outside the hospital, in the sweltering heatwave. It was the hottest week ever in England since 2006, and he was enjoying every degree of it. He slipped hi sunglasses over his hazel eyes and thought about what he had whispered in Jayden’s ear. She loves you. Just wake up before she has a flipping heart attack. Again he smirked.

Niamah sighed and dropped her head in her hand, the other still wrapped around Jayden’s.
Had she just made the worst decision of her life? Jayden’s re-assuring squeeze of her fingers told her she hadn’t, and that he was going to be joining her soon.
