The Anointed One - Chapter 9
Angel discovers something that shakes the floor of her reality...
I want to say thanks to Jasmin, Kimm B and Zaynab for their support. Keep your comments coming.
Vilera. It's a beautiful place. At least this part of it. The place where we transport between both the worlds is at some distance from the kingdom of Lambart. Zacs grandfathers Kingdom which was currently being ruled by Zacs' father.
"Zac can I ask you something?" I said as we were walking towards the kingdom.
"Since when did you feel the need to ask me anything?" he said smiling down at me.
"I was just wondering...did you...ever...I mean...have you ever seen your..fa...father?" I asked hesitantly. I saw him ball up his hands into fist on using the word father.
"No." he replied curtly.
I took it as my cue to shut up. It was obvious he didn't want to talk about his father. But my curiosity won over my sense of decency.
"Why do you hate him so much?" I asked quietly. It's a good thing that Zac and I were at a good distance from the others because Zac wasn't so eager about replying me in a low tone this time.
"Why do I hate him?!" he said furiously. "I hate him because he ruined my life. He is the reason why my mother is dead. Why I had to live a lie. Why I had to lie to the person I love the most about my reality. Why you are in danger. Angel he is the reason I wish every moment of my life that I had never been born you are the only reason for my sanity Angel. I can't lose you!" his voice had become a whisper by the time he ended.
"Every time I close my eyes to go to sleep, I see the faces of the people he tortured to death. The people who live their life out of fear. I have nightmares every single night Angel. Only when you are with me, those nightmares go away. My own father has ruined my life. How can I not hate him?"
"I am so sorry Zac. You were in so much pain and I didn't even realize. I was so happy in my own life that I couldn't see your misery."
"No please don't say that Angel. Your happiness was the only thing that made me feel I was normal. That made me forget about all this stuff."
"What are we going to do about it now?" I asked fearing the worst.
"There is no 'we'. Once we get to the safe house, you will stay there with the rest of them. And after my training is complete, I will head off to fight Xeroc with the other students."
"What made you think I will let you go alone?" I asked.
"There is no point in discussing this Angel. I would burn down Xerocs' castle before letting you risk your life."
I didn't argue with him further. It was obvious he wouldn't let me come with him so I would have to think of some other plan.
Then it hit me. Jason. Maybe he would help me.
.....................................................................
We had made a camp in the forest to rest for a while. I was sitting there, by Jason. They had all taken turns to protect me. As if I needed it.
I mean seriously, Zac is the one whose life is in danger. He should be the one they should all be guarding not me.
Raven, Lilly and Dean supported me but what they could do when both Zac and Jason were dead set against it. According to them I was vulnerable not him.
Sliding all these things aside, I asked Jason why we couldn't directly transport to the village. That would help us get to the village of Vilera faster right?
He told me that it was done to keep the place safe. If the people from Earth ever found out about this dimension and somehow managed to cross the barrier and enter this domain, the people of Vilera would get time to arm them self.
Okay that made sense. I guess comfort is not the priority when you are making panels to transport people from one dimension to the other.
"Hey Jason, what will we do after getting into the village? Where will we head of after we finally get there? I mean after all the training and stuff?" I said trying not to sound so hopeful.
"We? What do you mean by we?" he asked confused.
My spirits sank. He was the only person who had the courage to stand against Zac and I was having the feeling that he wasn't going to do that.
"I mean after Zac and I get some training..."
He didn't let me finish. He just laughed. And really hard I might add. Ok this is insulting.
"What made you think we were going to let you enter the fight?" he said smiling amusedly.
"Why won't you?" I said pouting my lips.
"Because you are too important." He muttered.
"What do you mean?" it was my turn to be befuddled.
"Nothing. The only thing you need to know right now is that you are going nowhere near the castle. And that's final."
"Ugh...You are just like Zac...so stubborn!"
"Of course I am. After all I am his..." he trailed off. He had said something he wasn't supposed to. It was obvious from his expression.
I wanted to ask what he was hiding but decided against it. He was stubborn; he might as well be short-tempered too.
We talked some more about random things. I figured that Zac and Jason were a lot alike.
"How old are you Jason?" I asked suddenly.
"I am twenty-four."
"I meant your real age."
"Oh. I ... I am...about a hundred years of age."
"What? But how can that be? It's the same time Zac was born. Shouldn't you be like a little old to be a protector?"
He didn't meet my eyes when he said what he said next.
"My fate was sealed the day I was born Angel. I was cursed. I know how my life is going to end. I mean what can be worst than knowing that you were born so your brother could be safe. That you would die so your brother could live." The pain in his voice was too much to bear.
But who was he talking about. What brother? What curse?
I asked him what was on my mind and his answer was the biggest shock I have had my entire life. And that's saying something considering what I have been through lately.
"I am talking about Zac Angel. He is my brother. Xeroc and Sophia didn't have one baby, they had twins."
