The Angel's Heart (Part 2) of Chapter 1

An Evil is taking hold of Spain. Meet Miguel and Maria, It's obvious they've got the hots for one another. But will they battle out the darkness to finally be together??
Miguel had entered the carriage, not knowing that there was a beautiful girl in it. He had softly cursed himself, for not making a better impression. But now as he looked back, he saw that she had disappeared. Did she get lost? Perhaps her horse had tripped and she was lying in pain.

He swore to himself, he shouldn’t care, he shouldn’t but yet, it was as if it was his instinct to protect her.

Just as he looked ahead, another horse jumped from the woods and into the meadow. It was the girl.

She looked beautiful and dreamlike with the sun shining off her black curls and illuminating her white skin.

"You have something that belongs to me," she said.

Maria sat on her horse, nervous. She had never faced an enemy before. Miguel smiled, flashing his white teeth. His dark brown curls stuck to his face he was sweating and his dark tanned skin shone in the sun. Maria had never been more hypnotized.

"What would this Senorita do about it. Hmmm?" he said.

She got of her horse and said, "The Senorita would fight."

Miguel got off his horse as well, "But how would Senorita fight? With no weapons?" He stepped closer to her.

"Oh I have weapons," she raised the hem of her skirt, just enough so he could see the gleam of the sword strapped to her leg.

Miguel acknowledged her for a moment. Maria took the sword and pointed it at him.

"Very well then. If Senorita would feel the need to fight. But I warn you, I don’t fight fairly," he said. Maria swallowed, something about his eyes was telling her he wasn’t joking.

He drew his sword. Maria was the first to move. Swords clashed, skirts twirled. She was a dancer and Miguel was her partner. He was skilled but so was she. He raised his sword and brought I down upon her, but she dodged. His sword was stuck in the earth and Maria clashed her sword with his. The impact was great.

The vibration shook his hand as he let go. She twisted the sword up in the air. It came falling down as she caught it in her free hand. Miguel backed off.

"Senorita is very skilled, but she forgot about the second…" he drew another shorter sword from his boot and the fight began all over again. Finally, after what seemed hours, they came to a stale mate. With two swords pointing at Miguel and one at Maria. They acknowledged one another. They were breathing hard and both drenched in sweat.

"It seems we have reached a tie, Senorita,"

"It seems so," she replied.

"Perhaps we will meet again,"

"Perhaps," came the reply.

Miguel backed off and sheathed his sword, but he only managed to take two steps before two swords were pressed against his throat. He felt a warm presence behind his back, which must have been Maria body.

She put his lips to his ear, "Didn’t anyone tell you not to trust your enemies?"

"I believe someone has said that, but who ever said we were enemies, nether the less I am sorry I had to do this beautiful Senorita. Helada!"

Maria’s whole body froze, it was as if she was paralyzed. Her arms were stiffly at her sides. Miguel had said ‘freeze’ in Spanish but, why did that have to mean she was frozen. She couldn’t move though she struggled.

"Do not struggle," he said, as if he was seeing through her actions, "It will only make you weary. Pray tell me, what is your name?" He unlocked himself from her grasp.

"Maria." She said

"El encantar, I am sorry it had to end. But, here is a whistle," Miguel reached into his left breast pocket to draw out a small wooden whistle, no bigger than her thumb. He held it in front of her. "Blow this whistle, and no matter where you are I will hear you, and will come to you as soon as I can."

He kissed the whistle and went around her to tie it around her neck. He leaned in and pressed a small kiss to the center of her neck and another one near her shoulder. Electric currents ran through her, she felt suddenly over-warm.

"Till next time, for I have a feeling we will be meeting each other very soon," he smiled.

With one last kiss that he put on the corner of her mouth. He hoped on the horse and rode away. Once he was out of sight. Maria was able to move again.

Maria sighed watching helplessly after him. She was already falling head over heels in love, with a complete stranger…….
