The Angel Closes Her Eyes

About my grandmother's death
The angel closes her eyes
And drifts into an eternal sleep
We will never forget her
As she watches us weep

At her funeral some cannot control their emotions
Saying it's too much to handle with everything
But then someone would say
"Look at how much peace she brings."

Her closed eyes
And crossed hands
Kept us together
As her last grain fell of sand

On her last day
On her forehead, a wrinkle
On her last breath
In her eye, a twinkle

We know you’re happy
Sitting up on a cloud
Laughing loud with grampy
As you watch us on the ground

You no longer suffer
And you’re now our angel
Guarding us from above
Keeping us from danger
