The Agent That I Am: Part V
Hey sorry it's taken so long but here it is. This one is more so about Blade.
After it had stopped raining, Eric stood up and offered a hand. I took it, and we started to walk back to my place. We were almost there when Eric said, ''I want to know everything about you.''
That shocked me, I thought about it before saying, ''Mabe some day, I can tell you.'' Now standing in front of my house I said, ''Again, thank you for the necklace, it's beautiful.'' I didn't want to go inside, but I had to.
''Just like you.'' He whispered.
''What?'' I asked dumbfounded.
''Oh, uh..nothing.'' He stared at the gravel walk.
I giggled, ''See you at school.'' I said and went into the house.
I placed my back on the door once it was closed, 'He thinks I'm beautiful. Wait, no, snap out of it! I can't get involved.' I sighed, 'Why does this have to be so complicated.'
''Is something wrong?'' I looked up to see Blade coming out of the living room. Wonderful.
''Nothing that would concern you and what are you doing here? The party's over.'' I folded my arms over my chest.
''Your anut and uncle were gracious enough to invite me to dinner.'' He walked over to me and stood about a foot away.
I groaned inwardly, 'Why do they do this to me.' I thought. ''That's greaaaat.'' I sarcastically said, dragging out the last syllables. I pushed past him and walked to the kitchen putting my bags on the counter. Took a glass out of a cabinet and started to fill it with rootbeer from the fridge. Blade came up and leaned over the counter, I turned my back to him while drinking.
''Why do you avoid me?'' He asked,
I turned around, leaned towards him and said, ''Because you annoy me.'' I refilled my glass.
''And why do I annoy you?''
''You ask too many questions.'' I opened the fridge.
''I only want to get to know you.''
I turned and saw that he was standing, rather close I might add. ''Well, I don't want to know you.'' I took the bag that held the fruit and started to put it in the fruit bowl. I got an apple, my back facing him. I turned around and he was standing right in front of me. Startled, I dropped my apple, he caught it before it hit the ground. ''Stop doing that!'' I yelled,
''Doing what?'' He grinned, that creepy grin, I snatched the apple out of his hand.
''Freaking me out.'' I maneuvered around him, grabbed my glass and headed for the stairs. Then I remembered something, I turned around finding him behind me, ''Where did my Aunt and Uncle go? They should have been here when I arrived home.''
''They went to get takeout.''
''Okaaaaaay,'' Then it clicked. 'I'm alone in a house with a jerk, who wants to get too close.' Well he's more than a jerk, but I'm not allowed to say those kind of words. ''When will they be back?'' I was trying very hard to stay calm.
''At about 6:00.''
'That's in 2 hours, what are they thinking?!' ''And what do you expect to do while their gone?'' 'He better not say what I think he's gonna say.'
''Spend quality time with you.''
'He said it.' ''Why don't you spend some quality time with the T.V., because I'm going to my room.'' I started ascending the stairs.
''Great, I'll join you.'' He started to follow.
''Oh no you won't!'' I faced him,
''Well why not?'' I wanted to punch his lights out. Then a thought accrued to me.
'Why not play along, fool him for a while.' I inwardly sighed, it was the only way out. ''On second thought, I think I'll stay down here.'' He grinned, 'At least he won't know where my room is.' I walked into the living room, set my stuff on the coffee table, then went to the bookshelf. I found a book that didn't look very interesting, but it was really thick to keep me occupied. I sat down on our black leather L shaped couch, turned on the T.V. and started to read. Blade of course, sat next to me.
''So,'' He said, ''what are you reading?'' He leaned over to get a look at the title.
''It's a book on the human anatomy.'' I tried to scoot away from him.
''That's very interesting,'' He scooted closer.
''So, where are you from?'' If I had spent time with him, I would have found out everything. Dirt and all.
''Oh, I..umm..I'm from New Jersey.'' He said hastily,
''It sounds like you are not sure.'' I eyed him.
''Where are you from?'' He was trying to change the subject.
''Utah, born and raised.'' It was a total lie, but he didn't know that.
''Really, I don't think you were born there.''
''And just where do you think I was born.''
''I would say...Canada.''
''Well I wasn't.'' Actually, Canada is where I was born, but how did he know that? I don't even have an accent.
''Huh,... I thought for sure it would be Canada.'' He put his arm behind me on the couch.
''Why would you think that?'' I looked at him, he had turned, so his body faced me.
''Just a hunch.'' His hand went to my far shoulder, irritated, I brushed it off, it stayed off. ''So, what brought you to London?''
I went back to reading, ''My Aunt and Uncle wanted a change of scenery, plus a place that spoke English. So here I am.'' -another lie- ''What brought you here?''
''Oh, uh... my dad had to change jobs, that's all really.'' He looked very nervous and uncomfortable, because he was squirming like a worm on a hook. I decided to press further.
''What does your father do?'' 'This should be good.'
''He's uh,.. into computers and stuff.'' He cleared his throat. ''But enough about me, what about you?''
''What do you mean?'' I scooted a little farther away, sitting almost at the edge of the couch. I did not, repeat not, like being near him.
''What do you like, what do you hate? Your interests and hobbies. I want to know everything about you.'' He leaned in, I leaned back and fell off the couch. Cutting my arm on a glass coffee table, a long cut appeared on the under side of my arm and started to bleed. Blade came to my side to help me up.
''Don't touch me,'' I brushed his hand away, then hissed in a breath, taking notice of my arm.
''Oh, I can take care of that for you.'' I glared at him.
''It's your stupid fault this happened!'' I pointed to the cut that was starting to drip. I placed my hand over it, stood up without any help and walked to the sink. I rinsed off my arm, got some gauze and disinfectant. Blade was sitting at the island, watching me. I shot him a glare every once in a while. I had finished wrapping it up, but was having trouble tying the final strip together.
''Here, let me,'' Blade held out his hand, motioning for me to give him my arm.
''Fine.'' I placed it in his hands, there was no way I could finish it with only one hand.
As he was tying it, he said ''I am sorry, for the cut I gave you.'' I eyed him suspiciously, I could tell the apology was fake, he was just trying to get my sympathy. He finished and just held my arm in both hands, looking down and rubbing it. ''Does it hurt?'' I took it back, still mad of course.
''A slight sting, but why would you care. It was your fault.'' I could see a slight line of blood appear on the snow white gauze. I traced it with my finger. 'Come on Joe, get here soon.'
That shocked me, I thought about it before saying, ''Mabe some day, I can tell you.'' Now standing in front of my house I said, ''Again, thank you for the necklace, it's beautiful.'' I didn't want to go inside, but I had to.
