The Agent That I Am: Part IV
Here is the long awaited chapter 4. Enjoy! ~~~
This guy was starting to bug me! He kept following me around like a puppy following his master. It was becoming very annoying, he just would not leave me alone. ''Look,'' I said turning to face the tall, dark and incredibly annoying boy. ''I would really appreciate it if you would kindly, STOP FOLLOWING ME!'' I almost yelled in his face.
''I can't,'' he stated bluntly.
''Really, and why is that?'' I put my hands on my hips.
''Your too beautiful,'' He just gazed at me.
''And enough with the beautiful thing. It's starting to get creepy.''
''I hope that's not a bad thing,'' he leaned closer, grinning devilishly.
''Actually, that is a bad thing,'' I was getting fed up with all the jerks I kept running into.
''I'm sorry to hear that,'' he kept smiled.
''And another thing-'' At that moment, my aunt called me, ''I gotta go.'' I turned and started to walk into the house.
''Don't take too long,'' Blade called behind me, I whipped around and faced him.
''Don't wait up.'' I smirked, walked into the house and closed the door behind me. ''Millie!'' I called once inside.
''Right here dear,'' she stood up from behind the island counter.
''What is with that guy out there?'' I motioned to the backyard.
''Oh,...well,'' her eyes scanned the yard. ''He's a friend of a friend,'' she cleared her throat, ''don't you like him?'' she asked me.
''No! I don't like him!'' I yelled.
''Well, why not?'' She looked like I just slapped her face.
I looked towards him sitting on a chair outside. ''He's...he's,''
''He's what?'' Millie asked.
''He's creepy!''
''There's just no pleasing you.''
''Your not getting the point,'' I threw my hands in the air. ''He keeps saying how beautiful I am.''
''And you don't like that?''
''Not the way he says it.'' I motioned to the back again.
''Look Jewel, he's our guest and we must treat him as such.'' She was solom.
''Fine but I'm not going to enjoy it.'' I folded my arms.
Uncle came in at that moment, ''What all the hubbub about?'' he asked,
''Nothing,'' I growled, then the doorbell rang.
''I'll get it.'' Millie said and went to answer the door, I sat on a stool pouting. More guests came, just more people I didn't know or cared about, but on the bright side, that meant I wouldn't be alone with Blade anymore. I went and greeted some of the guests, then walked outside, heading towards the punch bowl, 'The sooner this is over with the better.' I thought, while I got a cup of punch. The other guests came outside while crowding around one another, talking and finding seats.
I started to drink my punch, when I heard ''Jewel, why don't you sit next to Blade?'' It came from Millie. I choked on my punch, gasping, I looked and saw there were no more available seats anywhere. I sighed and sat down unwillingly, next to Blade who just smiled and stared at me. I tried to ignore him.
About thirty minutes passed and I was fed up, Blade was doing his best to charm me and I was definitely not impressed. ''So Jewel, what are you doing on Friday?'' Blade asked me.
''Busy. And it's Juliet.'' I said.
''Because I thought that you and I-''
''Oh! Is that the doorbell? I think that's the doorbell. I'll get it!'' I said standing up quickly and going inside. I closed the door and breathed a sigh of relief, glad to get away from him. 'That was a close one.' I thought. Then the doorbell really did ring, and I went to answer it. I opened the door to find Eric, he was dressed in a casual suit, black jacket and pants, with a blue shirt.
''Oh, Juliet you look wonderful.'' Eric said
''Thank you, so do you.'' I was blushing. We stood there in awkward silence for a moment.
''Would you like to come in?'' I motioned for him to come inside.
''Thanks,'' He came in, and looked around. ''You have a nice place.''
''Thank you,'' I looked out the window and saw Blade looking for me. ''Hey would you like to go for a walk, I'm getting kinda tired of all this socializing.'' I waved my hand toward the backyard. Of course it was an excuse, but I didn't think that Blade meeting Eric was a good idea.
''Oh, ok.''
''Let me just write a note to my aunt and grab my purse.'' I wrote the note, left it on the counter, then ran upstairs for my purse. I came down and we headed out the door, I closed the front door just as Blade entered the house through the back. ''Not good, not good, not good at all.'' I said once outside, I knew he saw me.
''What? What's not good?'' Eric asked me.
''Look, you need to do me a favor.'' I told him.
''Ok, what?'' He looked unsure.
''There's this boy who won't leave me alone, and right now he's following me. So I'm going to hide and when he come's out I need you to pretend to not know who I am and get rid of him.'' I tried to explain very quickly because I knew Blade was coming.
''Ok, I will.'' Eric looked determined.
''Oh, thank you!'' I looked around frantically trying to find a place to hide. Then I spotted my uncle's moving van that was still in the driveway. I climbed on top of it and laid down on my belly, just as Blade came outside. From where I was, I had a great view without anyone seeing me.
''Did you see a girl by the name of Juliet come by here?'' Blade asked Eric, obviously ticked off.
''I'm sorry, I haven't seen anyone out here lately.'' Eric said very nonchalantly, leaning against the van.
''Well, I just saw her come outside.'' He looked around a bit.
''Just why do you want to see her?'' Eric asked
''She ran away while I was asking her a question, and I never got an answer.'' Blade said in a haughty tone while circling the van, I tried to lie as flat as possible.
''I think she left because she didn't like you.'' Eric said with a smirk.
''Your just jealous.''
''Of you,'' Eric looked Blade up and down, ''I don't think so.'' He had to keep himself from laughing.
''If you see her, tell her that Blade is looking for her.'' It was more of a demand then a request. He turned on his heel and walked towards the door.
''Don't worry, I will,'' Eric called after him, Blade went inside and closed the door, ''Not.'' Eric finished.
I jumped down from the van and landed on my feet. The top was a good 13 feet up. I brushed the hair out of my face then I looked at Eric, who wore a look of shock.
''That was 10 feet up.'' Eric said still in shock.
''It was more like 15.'' I looked towards the top of the van, then back at Eric who's jaw had dropped. ''Shall we go?'' I motioned for us to start walking.
''Oh! uh,...yeh, but first.'' He took out a small box, ''This is for you.'' He handed it to me.
I took it, examined it then looked at Eric questioningly.
''Open it.'' he said,
So, I opened it and inside was a beautiful blue sapphire pendant. ''Oh,'' I breathed, ''it's amazing. How- where,''
''It was my grandmothers, I thought you should have it, considering I'm never going to wear it.'' He smiled.
I took off the necklace I already had on and put it in my purse. Then put on the one Eric gave me, I held it in my hand staring at it. ''It's beautiful, thank you.'' I looked at him.
''Would you like to go now?''
''Yes, let's.''
We turned left, out of the driveway. I didn't really care where we went, I just let Eric lead me. We walked a while, talking about random stuff until we came to a market place. We looked around a bit, I went and looked at some scarves, while Eric looked at fruit. While I looking at the display I heard an argument behind me. Turning around I saw Eric trying in vain to explain to a very angry lady who was taking in fluent Dutch. ''What's going on?'' I asked Eric, walking up to him.
''I'm just trying to buy some fruit and this lady won't let me.''
''Let me handle this.'' I turned towards the lady, ''Alstublieft forgvie mijn vriend, hij niet kunt u begrijpen.'' Please forgvie my friend, he can't understand you.
''Oh, het is goed, stel ik Engels spreken. Mijn man is verwijderd en hij doet alle traslating.'' Oh, it's alright, I can't speak English. My husband is away and he does all the translating.
''Dank u voor uw begrip. Nu, ik zou willen kopen drie van hen, twee van deze en vier van hen.'' Thank you for understanding. Now, I would like to buy three of those, two of those and four of those. I pointed to several fruits and nuts. She put them in a bag and handed it to me. I took out my wallet, ''Hoeveel moet ik u schuldig?'' How much do I owe you?
''Oh, niet hoeven te betalen. U bent de eerste persoon te begrijpen dat mijn taal. Ja, geen last.'' Oh, no need to pay. You are the first person to understand my language. So, no charge.
''Dank u, hebben een gezegende dag.'' Thank you, have a blessed day. I turned and started to walk away. Eric came up and walked beside me, his mouth agape. ''Hey Eric you want an apple?'' I asked taking one out of the bag.
''What was that back there?''
''What was what?'' I asked innocently.
''You where speaking fluent Swedish!''
''That was Dutch.''
''My point exactly! How do you know Dutch.''
''Learned it when I was little.'' I stated simply.
''Is there anything else I should know?''
''Nothing that I'm going to tell you.'' I smiled. At that moment it started to rain. Hard. Lucky thing, we where passing a park, we both ran underneath a tree. I sat at the base, while watching the rain fall, Eric stood a little further away.
''Why do you live with your Aunt and Uncle?'' Eric asked me.
I looked away. ''My parents..they... uh..they died.'' I choked back tears.
''I'm sorry'' he was silent for a moment. ''If you don't mind me asking, how did it happen?''
I sighed before answering. ''They died in a car accident, a couple of month ago.'' I sniffed. There death was still a fresh wound, and it hurt.
Eric knelt beside me. ''It still hurts, huh.'' He bore into me with those big, blue eyes.
''Yeah, not as much as it used to.'' I tried to smile, but he wasn't buying it. ''Apple?'' I held it out to him, trying to change the subject. He took it, but still looked at me, then sat down next to me. I just looked out at the damp world.
''I can't,'' he stated bluntly.
''Really, and why is that?'' I put my hands on my hips.
''Your too beautiful,'' He just gazed at me.
