The Aftermath

Written just after college, in celebration of my best friend's wedding to her childhood sweetheart. The picture's courtesy of Emmanuel Delcour, the sexiest man I have ever seen. Next to my husband, of course (or so we wish *lol*).
The Aftermath
HIM...

Sighing deeply, he stretched and reached out
To her. He pulled her close to savor
The languor that has been since the end of time.
She has conquered him and it felt
As if he has vanquished a thousand armies --
Alone. It was liberating. He recalled
The spiraling of passion that built
And built -- and built -- until
They were catapulted to the unknown;
The slow surfacing that was difficult,
For he had to recollect fragments
Of himself -- and of his soul -- that he
Had lost and found in the process.

HER...

Voluptuous. She felt voluptuous, and sighed
Deeply. Feeling his pull, she glided
Towards him and fit her curves into
His unyielding frame. Soft and hard --
She felt the contrast, and remembered
How resplendent he was in passion.
He has been freed, and in giving his freedom
She has found hers. It had felt like drowning:
She has drowned, she has drowned,
And him with her -- and it left her stunned.
She had not thought it possible to reach
Such heights; neither did she see herself
Being and becoming at once, at the same time.

THEM...

Touching, they had not quite lost
The feeling of having gone beyond themselves
To reach each other. Having expunged
Self-restraint and society's ghosts,
They turned, one unto the other
Naked. Free, their hands roamed
And their lips sought fruit
That both gratifies and awakens. They
Turned towards each other, as the
Waves turn towards the shore. Like
The wind that ripples the sea, their
Passion flared into a storm. Once more,
They struggled -- towards deprivation and salvation.
