Sounding like a woman is one of the most difficult aspects of cross dressing. Many cross dressers try to sound more feminine by speaking in high-pitched falsetto voices. Unfortunately, the result is usually more comical than convincing.

The truth is, having a high pitched voice doesn't necessarily make you sound like a woman. After all, there are plenty of women with deep voices and nobody would ever mistake them for men.

When it comes to sounding like a woman, there is something even more important than pitch: it's called dynamic range.

Dynamic range refers to the spectrum of tones that a person uses when they speak. A man's voice is often much more monotone than a woman's voice during speech. If you'd like an example of this, listen to any movie that actor Ben Stein has been in. His voice is famously monotone.

Women, on the other hand, use a wider dynamic range, giving their voices more of a sing-song effect. Take the example of a Valleygirl. "Like, oh my God," her range is all over the place!
