Tips for Thanksgiving Stuffing Recipes
While stuffing the bird, the appropriate amount of stuffing is ½ to ¾ cup of stuffing per pound of the bird. The skin of the turkey needs to be brushed with oil or butter. If you are stuffing the bird, tie the drumsticks together with a string. It is always good to have a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh. When you do so, make sure the thermometer points to the body and is not touching the bone. Remember, the turkey is done with, when the internal temperature reaches 165ºF. Traditional Stuffing Recipes for Thanksgiving
This is one of the best traditional recipe, which makes use of bread. You will come across a lot of recipes, which will use cornbread as well. This recipe will serve approximately 10 people and about 12 pounds turkey can be stuffed with it. You can make this stuffing before, leave it in the refrigerator and use it when you are ready to make the turkey. Let's see what are the ingredients required for this recipe.
Ingredients:
- French Bread - 1 Loaf
- Chopped Onions - 2 cups
- Celery chopped with leaves - 1½ cup
- Butter - ¼ cup
- Egg (beaten) - 1
- Chicken Broth - 2 cups
- Sage - 2 tsp
- Poultry Seasoning - 2 tsp
- Marjoram - 1 tsp
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Thyme - ½ tsp
- Apples (peeled and chopped) - 2
- This is recipe, for which you will have to cut the French loaf into pieces. In an oven, toast the bread at 200º F.
- Take a big pan and melt the butter in the pan. Add onions, celery and apples in the pan and let them cook, till the onions become soft.
- In a large bowl, take the toasted bread pieces and add the onion, celery and apples mixture to it. Now add all the seasoning to this mixture.
- It is now time to add chicken broth to the mixture. Do not add the entire broth. Add only ⅓ of a cup at a time, else the bread may become soggy. You may not require all the chicken broth. Mix all the ingredients using a fork and now add the beaten egg and mix thoroughly.

Ingredients:
- Whole Wheat Bread (made into cubes) - 1 pound
- Mushrooms (sliced) - 1 pound
- Onion (chopped) - 1
- Celery - 1 Stalk
- Garlic (minced) - 5 to 10 cloves
- Dried Sage - 1 tablespoon
- Dried Thyme - 1 tablespoon
- White Wine - ½ cup
- Veggie Broth - as needed
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Saute all the vegetables in white wine. As the vegetables are sauteing, add the herbs to it. Cook till the vegetables are soft and mushrooms have let go their juices.
- In an oven, toast the bread cubes at 200º F, till you are sauteing the vegetables. Make sure the bread is crunching.
- Take a large baking bowl and put the toasted bread cubes in it. Now add the vegetables mixture to it. Add the broth, so that the mixture is moist but not soggy.
- Cover the bowl and bake it approximately for 30 minutes. Uncover the bowl and let it bake for another 15 minutes.
This is the best stuffing recipe, I have by far come across. You can include this recipe in your Thanksgiving dinner recipes or as your Christmas recipe as well. I can tell you, it will be a big hit with everyone.

- Fresh Cornbread cubes - 6 cups
- Olive Oil - 1 Tbsp
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1
- Celery (chopped) - 1 cup
- Apples (peeled and diced) - 2 medium
- Walnuts, chopped - ½ cup
- Fresh Parsley, minced - ½ cup
- Dried Thyme - 1 tsp
- Dried ground Sage - 1 tsp
- Chicken broth - 1 to 1 ½ cup
- Pepper - ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Preheat the oven to 350º F and toast the bread cubes for approximately 8 to 10 minutes or till it becomes light brown in color. Remove them from the oven into a large bowl.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil. Once the olive oil is heated, add onions and celery to it and cook till the onions become translucent.
- After the onions are cooked, add apples and cook for approximately 5 minutes. Now pour the onion, apples mixture on the bread cubes and add all the ingredients and mix well.
- After mixing well, pour the entire mixture in a baking pan. Make sure you spray the baking pan with the cooking spray. Cover the pan and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the cover and bake for another 10 minutes.
This is another of my favorite recipe. With this recipe you will be able to serve about 10 to 12 people.
Ingredients:
- Ground Sage Pork Sausage - 1 ½ pounds
- Onions, chopped - 4
- Celery, chopped - 2 stalks
- Crumbled Cornbread - 6 cups
- Soft White bread, cubed - 6 cups
- Chicken Broth - 1 cup
- Eggs, lightly beaten - 2
- Poultry Seasoning - 2 tsp
- Steak Sauce - 1 tsp
- Salt - 1 tbsp
- In a skillet, place the sausage over medium heat. Cook the sausage, by breaking it apart with a fork. The sausage should become evenly brown. Keep the sausage aside, but do not throw away the pan drippings, as we will use it further in the recipe.
- Take the drippings and cook onions and celery in it. The onion should be cooked till it becomes brown. Remove the extra drippings.
- Take a large bowl and add sausage, cooked onions and celery, cornbread, white bread, chicken broth and eggs to it. Add the seasonings, steak sauce sand salt to it and mix well. If you do not mix well, there are chances of salt not getting evenly distributed.
- Now stuff this stuffing in the turkey and roast it, till it becomes brown in color.
