Thanksgiving is a day when all the friends and family get together to have a wonderful time together. For adults, thanksgiving is an opportunity to praise the Lord as well as be grateful for all the things that they have received in life. For children, thanksgiving is all about fun, frolic and getting entertained!

Thanksgiving songs are played on this day for two reasons. Firstly, to teach a thing or two to the kids about this auspicious day and secondly, to let them enjoy listening or singing to the songs lyrics. Given below are some of the best thanksgiving songs.

To Gramma's House

To Gramma's house we go,
Heigh ho, heigh ho, heigh ho!
We're on our way with horse and sleigh,
Through fluffy drifts of snow.

Oh, what a trip to take.
She'll have a chocolate cake.
There'll be some pies, of monstrous size,
And chestnuts we can bake

To Gramma's house we go,
Heigh ho, heigh ho, heigh ho!
What lovely things Thanksgiving brings;
The nicest things we know!

Five Little Turkeys

5 little turkeys standing by door,
One waddled off, and then there were 4.
4 little turkeys under a tree,
One waddled off, and then there were 3.
3 little turkeys with nothing to do,
One waddled off, and then there were 2.
2 little turkeys in the noon day sun,
One waddled off, and then there was 1.
One little turkey better run away,
For soon will come Thanksgiving day.

Here We Go Over to Silly Tilly's

Silly Tilly's, Silly Tilly's,

Let's Have a Dinner...Thanksgiving!

Let's have a dinner, Thanksgiving
Let's have a dinner, Thanksgiving
The Pilgrims were cold
So cold
They didn't have food
No food
Along came the Indians
Saying, "How...do you do?"
Let's have a dinner, Thanksgiving
Let's eat together, Thanksgiving
Lets' have a dinner, Thanksgiving
Thanks for our new friends, Thanksgiving
You bring the popcorn
We'll bring the tea
What is missing?
("Here turkey, turkey, turkey.")
Let's have a dinner, Thanksgiving
Let's have a dinner, Thanksgiving

Every Day Is Thanksgiving
by Karen Rupprecht & Pam Minor

When I have turkey to eat and stuffin' and pumpkin pie
Then I know it's Thanksgiving Day and I'm gonna tell you why
'Cause there's so much to eat and the people I love are near
That is why Thanksgiving Day is my favorite time of the year

But I don't need turkey to eat or stuffin' or pumpkin pie
To make each day Thanksgiving Day and I'm gonna tell you why
'Cause if there's food to eat and the people I love are near
Then it is Thanksgiving Day every day of the year

The First Thanksgiving
by Barbara Speicher

Pilgrims left their homeland on the Mayflower ship.
From the Church of England, they wanted to split.
Some sought grand adventure, and some needed work.
They were all determined and from danger did not shirk.

Storms made them seasick, and the main beam cracked.
Tightly crowded, they ate salt horse and hardtack.
They reached Plymouth Rock, fulfilling all their dreams.
But, then winter came with bitter cold and suffering.

Food was scarce and many died;
How could they stay alive?....

Feasting altogether, they thanked God for everything.....
...Oh, people rejoice! Give thanks!

Thanksgiving Things

The turkeys in the pen,
They turkeys in the pen.
All the children come and see,
The turkeys in the pen.

The pilgrims on the boat,
The pilgrims on the boat.
All the children come and see
the pilgrims on the boat.

The Indians in the field,
The Indians in the field,
All the children come and see,
The Indians in the field.

The pumpkins in the patch,
The pumpkins in the patch,
All the children come and see,
The pumpkins in the patch.

The corn on the cob,
The corn on the cob,
All the children come and see,
The corn on the cob.

The butter in the churn
The butter in the churn,
All the children come and see,
The butter in the churn.

Thanksgiving is a Wonderful Thing

My uncle is eating the drumstick,
My auntie is chewing the wing,
My cousin in nibbling the stuffing,
Thanksgiving is a wonderful thing.

Chorus:
Bring back, bring back
Please bring anything left to bring
Bring back, bring back
Thanksgiving is a wonderful thing.

My daddy loves candied potatoes,
My mother, the cranberry ring,
My brother is covered with gravy,
Thanksgiving's a wonderful thing.

First Americans, and So Proud
by Barbara Speicher

Indians lived way before you and me
In forests, deserts, plains, and near seas;
Learning to live with what was at hand,
Making their clothing and homes from the land.

Hear those drums...they're beating loud,
"First Americans, and so proud"
Hear those drums...they're beating loud,
"First Americans, and so proud"

Iroquois lived in the Eastern Woods...
Cheyenne planted corn on the Plains...
Navajo in the Desert Southwest...
We can learn much from the Indian way...
First Americans and so proud,
and so proud...and so proud.

These are some songs which children are sure to love! Besides these songs, you can also plan some interesting activities as well as thanksgiving crafts for kids and they will definitely have a rocking time this thanksgiving!
