Thanksgiving Family Woes? What Would Heather Locklear Do?

Celebrities, alas, seem to be settling into "normal" mode for the Thanksgiving holiday, leaving their watchers to their turkey and football.
Thanksgiving is a time for those in America to gather with their families and give thanks for what they have. The tradition originates, of course, in very early colonial America, when the earliest European settlers were helped through some tough times by the local Native Americans and sat down with their brethren to have a feast of local food. In modern times? Well, Thanksgiving is as much about watching football, shoving down as much turkey and mashed potatoes as possible and, of course, the inevitable family squabbles that seem to arise during holidays.

With holidays being typified in such a "Norman Rockwell" type of manner, i.e. – "normal," one must wonder what celebrities do on Thanksgiving. After all, they’re the ones typically distracting us from our own lives. A bit of reading turned up some interesting Thanksgiving celebration ideas, including Heather Locklear’s plans to have dinner with both her boyfriend, Jack Wagner AND her ex-husband Richie Sambora. Towhich we reply…huh? Sure it seems odd, but it appears that the divorced couple has taken a rather mature approach to being friends, most likely for the sake of their 11-year-old daughter Ava. The two (along with their respective significant others) have spent other time together that has been highly publicized. So for those hoping to read about a Thanksgiving family incident to rival their own from the Locklear/Sambora duo…sorry, it’s just not likely.

Perhaps more interesting is the "normalness" of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Thanksgiving plans. The actress has been leading up to the holiday by recounting recipes and musing on the meaning of Thanksgiving on her new website called GOOP (www.goop.com), where she notes, "Thanksgiving is, without a doubt, my favorite holiday. I love when everyone comes together and celebrates the idea of gratitude, something we all mean to do every day, but seem to lose sight of most of the time. I also love the cooking – the days of planning and chopping and basting. This year, I decided to work out three variations on the traditional meal: a big group, a small gathering and a cozy dinner for two." Well said Gwyneth, and we hope your holiday goes swimmingly.
