Text Messages Released by Police in Steve McNair Shooting Death
Investigators have released text messages that they say support the theory that Steve McNair was killed in a murder-suicide by Sahel Kazemi.
Text messages between Steve McNair and his alleged murderer were released in a report by authorities investigating the deaths of both McNair and Sahel "Jenni" Kazemi. The text messages seem to support, to a degree, police theories that Kazemi was becoming increasingly disturbed by her situation and was likely capable of killing McNair and then herself. She was in debt and asked McNair via text to give her $2000 to help her pay some of them off.
McNair complied and confirmed with her via text that the money had in fact been transferred. But McNair was also involved with another woman who was not his wife - and Kazemi knew about it. She had followed the woman on at least one occasion from McNair's condominium. Co-workers seem to corroborate the police version of the story, that Kazemi was realizing that McNair was not going to leave his wife for her and that she was likely going to have to figure out ways to get out of debt on her own.
McNair and Kazemi's bodies were discovered in a Nashville apartment owned by McNair and a business associate. McNair had been shot four times and Kazemi had been shot once in the head. Investigators believe that McNair was asleep when he was killed and that Kazemi then turned the gun on herself. She is believed to have fallen in his lap, then to the floor, on top of the gun.
