Checking the expiry date of this drug is very important. Outdated tetracycline is known to be highly toxic to the kidneys. Since tetracycline should be taken only in the prescribed quantity, you must use a measuring spoon to consume the right quantity of tetracycline oral.
You must take tetracycline 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meals. Consume it with a full glass of water. Food inhibits the absorption of tetracycline so it is good to be taken on an empty stomach. It should not be consumed with dairy products as these can affect its absorption by the body. Also, you should not consume any antacids containing aluminum, calcium, or magnesium while you are taking tetracycline for acne as these will affect the absorption of this drug.

While you use tetracycline for acne, it can cause side effects like dizziness, mild nausea, stomach upset, vomiting and diarrhea. It can also cause fever, breathing difficulty, swelling in genital area or swelling of the face. Topical tetracycline can occasionally cause skin irritation, which should soon disappear.
