My research team collected data from over 950 actual Tempurpedic bed owners on what they think of their mattress. We gathered the data from hundreds of online message boards, which tend to be excellent sources of information. The data reveals many interesting findings, and this article will focus on the most important issue: comfort.

Eighty Percent Comfort Rating

Our research shows that all of the hype that you have probably heard about Tempurpedic is actually, by and large, true. About 80% of Tempurpedic owners find the bed to be comfortable, according to the data. This percentage is substantially higher than what innerspring bed owners indicate in our related research.

Less Pain

Tempurpedic bed owners say that they experience less pain and discomfort, especially in regard to their hips, shoulders, and back, than they do on traditional innerspring type beds, the type that most people still sleep on every night. It is not uncommon for an owner to indicate that their back problems have been lessened or eliminated thanks to their Tempurpedic mattress.

The main reason for the good comfort of the bed is due to its temperature sensitive and weight sensitive properties, which cause the sleeper to, in effect, "melt" into the mattress.

Problems

Tempurpedic owners do have some complaints in regard to comfort, however. And these complaints stem from the temperature and weight sensitivity of the bed. First, a significant number of owners say that they found their Tempurpedic bed difficult to get used to at first because the bed’s properties are radically different from innerspring mattresses.

Also, there are a number of complaints that the bed inhibits the sleeper from being able to toss / turn and get out of bed easily. Finally, some owners describe sleeping on the bed to be like sleeping on mud or quicksand. These owners typically did not find the bed to be comfortable at all.
