Temper: A Curse
The break-up between two friends.
I feel really sorry about it. It was a terrible thing to do. I recognize it now. I was very angry and did not know what I did. I had screamed at Chris furiously. I had called him a rascal. I know he is not. I wish I had not said it, but I did. I had even called him a ruffian. Can you believe it? Well I cannot. I cannot believe that I had thrown these words on his face violently. But I have to confess that I did such a terrible thing. Such a shame!
It was not completely my fault, you know. I am not trying to hide my fault. I mean, I have no control over myself when I get angry; I get totally out of my mind. All my courtesy disappears into thin air. It is a really bad habit that I possess. And now, it has caused me to break a friendship, a long friendship of six years, with a true and good friend.
It happened at our school in a very usual day. There is a huge green park just behind our school. After the school was over, Chris and I were having a walk through the park. It was a very hot day, but the trees were providing us with cool shades. We were having a wonderful time. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, a couple our classmates named Tim and Cameron arrived on the scene to interrupt us.
"It's Leo and Chris," Cameron noticed.
"Yeah," Tim joined in, "It looks like the little kids are taking a walk through the shade," he giggled.
They belonged to those groups of students who acted like polite kids before the teachers, but under their covers they are nothing but devils. "What a puny boy!" Tim continued the teasing work.
"Don't you have anything else to do? Go away! Leave us alone!" I exclaimed.
"What did you say?" Cameron said angrily as he approached me with a nasty look. He had a big, muscular body and threw me towards a tree. I bumped on the soft grass and was not hurt at all. But Chris could not bear the insult and he began to argue against Tim and Cameron. Soon a fight began. Chris was a person of very calm nature, but had well-built body and good physical strength. He knocked down the two of them within a couple of minutes and taught them a good lesson.
They fled away to the Principal's room and complained about the offense of Chris, omitting their own faults. They even intended to make me punished. Therefore, they reported to the Principal that I was the center and the root of the chaos. They told that I had inspired Chris to beat them up. But I did no such thing! However, the Principal called me to her room and gave me a good scolding. I had been known as a disciplined student and such a scolding had hurt my reputation. That is when I threw those terrible comments on Chris. I uttered those slangs. I had seen his face in pain and tears flowing from his eyes.
I do not know how to face him. He had been such a good friend. I confided everything in him and he did the same to me. We used to trust each other so much. He had saved me from punishments many times by taking it on himself. I do not know how to repay him. It is one of the most disappointing moments in my short life.
I went to his house to apologize, but he just ignored me. Oh! It is so horrible to lose a friend. I feel it now. I feel really guilty. Temper, is such a curse!
