TEAR IN THE HAIR

The poem describes how it feels when the depth of some feelings go unnoticed. Feelings too fragile to be left unguarded, yet hurt when suppressed.
TEAR IN THE HAIR
For times gone by,
We spent in the shade of each other’s arms..
Gazing, overcome with the fullness of the moment..
Little altercations that directed our life…
The small places, and the meaningful little achievements
We hoped would blaze on forever

Knowing not where the tides would carry us…
Out of love for each other or…
Into yet another sunrise ….
I pick at your hair…
Unhoned to what you would become….
You,could be anything
The fragile hand runs over the glass pieces…
Amazed at the shine, wary not of the bleeding

Could I have done better?
You nod ,
I delve deeper into my spaces
It brings a similar tear, I scrounge back in fear
The roads are empty ahead……
With the dewy trees, winds ablaze,
And the little pebbles beneath our toes…
I let the tear go,
It runs the dreaded path..
Sinks softly into your hair…
You smoothen out the pretty patterns in your hair
So perfectly , callously…
Looking away it dawns,
‘I’m just another unnoticed tear in your hair’.
