Pomeranians are categorized under a toy dog breed. They are a member of the Spitz family of dogs. This tiny, active and playful dog breed, can be a great companion. Pomeranians have their origin in Germany. In fact, they are named after Pomerania in Germany. During the mid-18th century, they were introduced throughout the European continent.

Both male and female Pomeranians are approximately 7-12 inches in height and about 3-7 pounds in weight. A teacup Pomeranian is a popular, tiny dog breed. This small, cute dog can even be carried in a purse or pocket. A teacup Pomeranian has a wedge-shaped head with pointed ears. It has a soft, thick undercoat and a harsh, outer coat. It weighs less than 3 pounds and is less than 11 inches in height. It comes in a variety of colors such as black, brown, white or in a combination of these colors.

Temperament: Teacup Pomeranians are very active and playful dogs. They are aware, intelligent, quick-witted and make natural watchdogs. They are loyal and loving in nature. Hence, they can be good companions. They enjoy lying on the owner's lap and love to be pampered.

Grooming requirements: Teacup Pomeranians have a thick double coat. Therefore, they require daily attention and care. Regular grooming of the Pomeranians will help keep their coats shiny, soft, fluffy and tangle-free. If you don't pay attention towards their brushing and cleaning, then they may suffer from various skin problems. If you frequently miss brushing your dog, then its coat can become matted and tangled, making grooming more difficult. You need to clip your dog's nails on a regular basis. Regularly brush its teeth to prevent gum and tooth decay. Its ears should be cleaned with an ear cleansing solution to prevent ear mites.

Training: You need to train your dog, so that it becomes a pleasant, obedient companion. Training a teacup Pomeranian requires lot of patience and efforts. While training the dog, it is important to keep its attention and win its love. Praise and reward the dog with a bone, biscuit or other types of dog foods, so that your pet will display good dog behavior. Avoid beating the dog for its misbehavior.

Exercise requirements: Although teacup Pomeranians are tiny dogs, they need plenty of exercise which they get by running around in the house. Pomeranians also love going for long walks, so be sure to take your pet out for a walk regularly.

Health Issues: Pomeranians generally live for about 12-15 years. They are susceptible to a number of hereditary health problems such as skin, heart, eye and knee problems. They can also suffer from early loss of teeth, hypoglycemia, heart problems, seizures and eye infections. So, you need to be very watchful about your dog's health.

Due to their small size, teacup Pomeranians make perfect pets for small houses and apartments. If you have small children in your house, then they should be taught how to approach the pomeranian pup, so that it is not injured. Spend enough time with your dog and give it ample amount of love.
