Being a powerful antifungal and a natural treatment it can help to get rid of toenail or fingernail fungus effectively. Tea tree oil is a powerful and natural antibiotic which helps to get rid of various skin ailments. It can also be used as a mouthwash. Fill half glass with water, add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil and swish the water using a spoon. Gargle with this solution to use it as mouthwash. By diluting tea tree oil one can use it to get rid of bacterial infections of skin like acne, one can get rid of viral infections like warts and fungal infections like toenail and ringworm. So, rather than using any chemical containing antibiotic creams and ointments, you can simply dilute tea tree oil and apply it regularly to the infected area, to clear up the infection.
How to Apply Tea Tree Oil?
To treat toenail fungus using tea tree oil, you will need a small bottle of tea tree oil which is completely concentrated, cotton swabs, and non-stick bandages to make a plaster. You can also dilute the tea tree oil with other carrier oil like olive oil or petroleum jelly and use it.
Take a clean cotton swab and drench it with 2-3 drops of tea tree oil, then wipe the affected area beneath the nail and all over the nail. Allow this solution to dry before you go to bed, leave the solution overnight. Repeat applying the solution in the morning and keep it for full day, and apply it before going to bed and leave it for the night. If the skin becomes irritated due to the use of concentrated tea tree oil, dilute 3 drops of tea tree oil with 10 drops of olive oil and then use it on the affected area. You can cover the affected area with a plaster to protect it better, but it can also be left open.
So use the above instructions to apply and treat the toenail fungus affected area. To prevent getting this infection again, wear footwear when in wet areas.
