Taming a Dark Heart - Ch. 10 - Black, White and Red

**** Hi everyone :)
I think there are just a couple more chapters left for TADH.
I have been thinking about the ending and wondering if I should just end it or leave room for a sequel?
Your views would be great - which one you prefer and the reasons??!! ;)

I will be pretty busy for the next couple of months because I got a role in the play I auditioned for :).
But will complete TADH soon.

The title pretty much sums up this chapter. Im sure you'll get it as you read on.

***Kara’s point of view***

The villa really felt like home now.
I had been practicing really hard for the duet with Kyle and tomorrow was the day.
Today I’d invited him to come to the villa and practice with me; after asking Gabrielle of course.

I ran downstairs and met him at the door.
"Kyle!" – I was excited to see him and gave my friend a big hug and he greeted me back.
"Aren’t you going to introduce your friend Kara?" - I spun around and saw Gabriele with his arms crossed looking at Kyle with a not so pleasant face.
He was jealous? I found it kind of cute and gave Gabriele a big kiss on the cheek to reassure him.

"Gabe this is Kyle, Kyle Gabe" - Kyle didn’t seem too disturbed by Gabriele as he shook his hand and greeted him.
"See you later Gabe!" - I walked Kyle outside to go practice. Gabe didn’t look so upset after I kissed his cheek.

I sat down and opened the music and lyrics. One of the sentences stood out to me.
"Kyle" – he picked up his head as I called his name.
I smiled at him then said - "I think I have the name of our song".

"Thanks for coming to the performance Danny" - I thanked him as we jumped out his car and walked to the hall. He smiled.
"But I guess I call us even now because you didn’t tell me about Candice..." - I raised my one eyebrow at him waiting for a reply.
He looked stunned and didn’t even reply.
"Don’t worry Danny, I’m just teasing you. See you on stage" - I punched his arm lightly then walked backstage with my keyboard in hand.

I looked at my watch. Gabriele hadn’t been able to leave with us because he had work to do. It was affecting my mood because I really wanted him there.
Dakota, Mae-Ling and Kyle were there already.

We huddled into a group and said a prayer.

The girls went on performed amazingly. I knew the talent scout would love them.
I bit my lip to calm my nerves and Kyle hugged me to calm me down.
"We’ll be fine Kar, just sing your heart out and it’ll be amazing" – I smiled at him and took one last deep breath and walked out onto stage with Kyle.

There were so many people! I wished so much that Gabriele was there.

I opened my mouth and let my words flow:
"Good-evening everyone. Before we begin I would like to dedicate this song to our great hero - Mr Michael Jackson. Music would not be the same without you and we would like to thank-you. Thank-you for shaping the industry. You will never be forgotten... This song is called Dreaming wide awake" - the audience clapped and Kyle and I took our places to begin"...

Kyle began strumming and opened the singing:

"When gray meets light
it creates new colors
That stay lost inside
Until they find each other"

I opened my mouth and began singing playing the keys:

"Then the world that you've never seen before
Starts moving in slow motion"

I looked out and saw someone come in. I felt my heart lift when I realised it was Gabriele. He quietly stood in the doorway as we continued.

"Am I living now out loud?
Cause I can't hide me from you
And I'm not afraid somehow
To let you see right through Me
Wait, I must be dreaming wide awake"

Kyle and I were facing each other and singing:

"This world's so real
Like a kaleidoscope made clear
To touch
To feel
What if we made it disappear?

With just a tangle, you might change
I'd rather breathe in this moment........"

Then suddenly I heard glass break and the music stopped.
All at the same time Gabriele had somehow made his way to the stage and knocked me to the ground covering me.

I felt pain in my arm and thought he had maybe broken it when he pushed me.
People began screaming and running out the hall.
"What’s going on Gab-" - I choked but was cut off.
"Give me the girl Lombardi" – I looked across and watched as Mr Adam walked closer to the stage. He had a gun aimed at Gabriele and I. Kyle managed to run off the stage unharmed.

"Adam, put down the gun now..." - Gabriele growled as he still covered me as Mr Adam stopped a couple of metres away from us.
I watched as Danny slowly walked behind him and aimed the gun.
"Drop the gun now Mr Adam..." - Danny threatened him but all he got in reply was a snicker.
"Do you really think I would be so stupid to come alone Lombardi? Look up" - as we looked up someone began shooting from above. Gabriele quickly held onto me and rolled, just avoiding the stream of bullets as we took cover behind the stage curtain.

Gabriele let go of me and took his gun out. I finally looked down at my arm and gasped.
Blood.
"Kara, I want you to run. Get away from here as quickly as you can" - Gabriele looked into my eyes and whispered just as more bullets were fired but missed us.
"But I don’t want to leave you Gabrie -"
"Just go Kara; we don’t have much time before that guy finds us... Go!" – I held onto him not wanting to leave but knowing I had to.

I watched as two masked men made their way to us and I began running, holding my shot arm.
"Lombardi, if you don’t give me the girl I’ll gladly have your head instead!" - I heard Mr Adam shout as I ran away...

I ran out the hall, outside as fast as I could. I turned and looked behind and saw the two men chasing me. I pumped my legs as fast as I could and felt tears leave my eyes as I ran and heard so many gunshots. So many bullets fired. I just prayed that Gabriele was okay.

I held my arms and continued running noticing them getting closer and closer.
They began firing shots at me but luckily missing. I ducked and continued running not knowing where to go. Running away from the shootout unfolding.

I was beginning to lose hope.

I’m going to die tonight...those men will shoot me...
I felt my breathing increase and suddenly felt someone pull me into a corner.
"Let me hmmmmmmmm hmmmmmm!" – I felt a hand cover my mouth as I screamed. Oh no, one of Mr Adams men had found me...

"Shhhh stop struggling so much!" - I heard a hushed string of words from the man covering my mouth. "Geez take it easy!" - I watched as the two men ran past, not seeing me.

I lifted my foot and aimed my heel on the man holding my mouth’s foot.
He seemed to see it coming though and moved his foot away just in time.
"Listen! Would you please stop it! I’m trying to help you here!" - Wait, I knew that voice....

I turned around and looked into green eyes.
It was Trey.

"Listen we have to...." - those were the last words I heard as I passed out holding my arm.

***Gabriele’s point of view***

"Adam! Stop this now!" – I shouted as I fired more shots hitting one of his men in the chest and watching him crumple to the ground.
"Lombardi, what you don’t understand is that you have one of the biggest mafia groups around. You taking away my business-" - Mr Adam shouted back and then fired another shot missing.
"And I need to eradicate you and your little girlfriend to get it back" - he growled and shot another three or four bullets.

I looked over the table I was taking cover under and watched as Danny fired his last bullet. Shit.
One of Mr Adams men walked over to him from behind and hit him to the ground.
He fell to the ground like a sack of potatoes but still conscious.

"Okay Adam Ill make a deal with you. Just tell your men to stand down" - I didn’t have any other choice.
"Let Danny and Kara go and ill come with you" – I shouted over to him, slowly standing up with my hands in the air.

"So I let the girl and the boy go and you’ll just come with?" - He sneered and began laughing uncontrollably. I knew I had a knife in my pocket and wished I could just throw it at him....

"Yes" - I couldn’t believe I was surrendering to him. Shows I’m really not always the best...

"I'll tell ya what. I’ll let the girl go but you and the boy are coming with. I'll also be wanting your drug suppliers. Take him boys" – he didn’t give me a chance to reply and instead I felt a blow to my leg making me collapse.
I pulled the man down with me but then felt metal hit my head just as a passed out.

***Kara’s point of view***

"Wake up, wake up miss!" - I felt a cold hand tapping my cheek as I came around.
Wait, this wasn’t a hospital....where was I?
I looked down and saw my arm bandaged.

"I took the bullet out for you ya know" - I looked up and a youngish guy, maybe about 27 or so stood in front of me. He seemed to be a doctor but this was no ward.
"Don’t ask any questions Kara, just sit tight for a minute because we’ll have to go soon..." - behind the "doctor" Trey appeared. He had his arms crossed as he spoke.

"Trey, I swear, leave me alone...." - the last time we spoke he pointed a gun to my head.
"Hey, you better just shut that mouth. If it weren’t for me ya wouldn’t be alive right now"
"You wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for me so just leave me alone!" - I screamed at him.

He walked over to the bed and the other guy walked out.
"okay, okay. I guess ya are right there. But that don’t mean you’re gonna just run your mouth anywhere now?"
"What do you want from me Trey? I just want to go so I can help Gabriele"
"Do you even know where he is sweets?" - I hated when he called me that but he was right. I looked down not knowing what to say but just wanting to find Gabriele.

I felt him lean over and touch my chin. I flinched out of fear and anger.
"Relax for now. We leave in 15 minutes...." - he got up and began walking out the room.
"Where are we going Trey? The least you could do to thank me for saving your life is to leave me alo..." - he cut me off before I could complete my sentence.
"Gabriele. We are going to find my brother" - he gave me one last glance then left the room.
