Causes of Excessive Tiredness

Both physical and emotional stress can lead to weariness. Excessive stress results in adrenal fatigue because of which you feel worn out and run down. Financial problems, family issues, work related issues, etc. do cause tiredness. Being overweight or underweight, long working hours, shift duties, excessive consumption of sugar and caffeine, are some of the common reasons of feeling tired. Conditions such as anemia, an under-active or overactive thyroid, pregnancy, insomnia, asthma, hormonal imbalance, cancer, liver or kidney problems, arthritis, diabetes, etc. can exhibit symptoms of tiredness. Excessive use of certain medicines such as diuretics, blood pressure control pills, antihistamines, excessive consumption of alcohol or drugs, excessive smoking can leave you tired and exhausted.

If the question 'why am I so tired' is still haunting you, then you should check whether you sleep at least for eight hours, whether you eat healthy foods, whether you maintain regular eating and sleeping hours. If you think that your condition matches the description 'feeling tired all the time and no energy', then you need to find out if there is an underlying disease or if it is a lifestyle issue that needs to be addressed. To avoid vitamin deficiency or malnutrition, you should follow a balanced diet which provides all necessary nutrients in correct proportion. Wrong diet and wrong eating and sleeping habits result in various stomach problems such as constipation, diarrhea, heartburn and indigestion, which sack your energy. Tiredness is also triggered by sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity. Regular exercise helps improve the rate of metabolism and circulation of blood in the body. Sedentary lifestyle is responsible for weight gain. Overweight people tend to avoid physical activity and become more unfit. As a result of this, they feel tired when they try to do something. Obesity gives rise to several diseases which in turn make them feel more tired. Thus the vicious cycle continues.

There is no end to the to-do-list and you have to spare time for exercises and even for your hobbies. You need to pay attention to your body's signals and you should not allow depression or weariness to affect your day-to-day activities. Excessive tiredness and fatigue do not always indicate serious health problems but if neglected, they can lead to serious health complications. Extreme symptoms of tiredness and dizziness due to complete exhaustion may require medical intervention but mild symptoms can be easily reduced with rest, regular exercise and healthy diet. For severe symptoms, you need to consult your doctor.
