Symptoms of Low Blood Pressure
Low Blood Pressure also known as Hypotension is defined as a significant drop in the pressure of the blood in the body.

There are a variety of symptoms which help identify that the person is in fact suffering from low blood pressure. These symptoms of low blood pressure are:
  • Dizziness. Feeling as if the ground beneath you is rocking.
  • Fainting.
  • Changes in the state of the mind such as confusion, anxiety, difficulty in concentrating.
  • Nausea.
  • Sudden feeling of cold and clammy feet and hands.
  • Feeling the blood drain out of you.
  • Everything suddenly goes dark.
  • Irritation towards noise.
If one is suffering from any of these low blood pressure symptoms, one is advised to visit the doctor immediately and get one’s blood pressure checked up.

There are a variety of things that can cause these low blood pressure symptoms in a person. These causes of low blood pressure are:
  • Heart problems, which can cause a reduced heart rate, or a decrease in the amount of blood supplied to the body.
  • Pregnancy.
  • Side effects of certain medications such as diuretics, beta blockers and high blood pressure medication.
  • Certain medicines used to treat erectile dysfunction can also cause low blood pressure.
  • Hormonal problems such as adrenal insufficiency or thyroid disease where the thyroid gland can be either inactive or overactive.
  • Nervous system disorders.
  • Folic Acid deficiency or Anemia.
  • Diabetes which can cause alterations in blood sugar levels.
  • Age.
When one visits the doctor, he/she will understand the basic cause of the symptoms of low blood pressure and thus help you with your treatment.

There are several ways in which one can avoid or reduce the low blood pressure attacks. Ideally, low blood pressure attacks can be avoided by taking proper and healthy meals at the right times. One should include a variety of foods, preferably raw vegetables and fruits, in one’s diet. One should drink plenty of water. Regular exercise and taking adequate rest also helps in avoiding low blood pressure symptoms and attacks.
