Sweet Sixteen - Part 9

This story is nearing an end...
January 21, 2011 - (Sandra’s POV)

Mum and dad were coming back tomorrow, so today I was going to go out and have fun all night. That was my plan at first, but everything changed when Chris came over at around 2 in the afternoon. He was dressed in a tight button down white shirt and black pants.

I was wearing my blue long shirt and white shorts. I was ready to go out, so seeing Chris standing there with his hands in his pocket puzzled me. I tilted my head to the side. I did tell him I was going out today and not to bother me. I thought he said he didn’t care.

"Oh good, you’re ready," he caught my arm and pulled me out.

"W-Wait a second!!" I pulled away from him. "What are you doing? Did you forget what I said yesterday?"

He shrugged. "I don’t care. You’re coming with me."

"Yes… Wait! What?"

"There’s something I want to clarify. After that… you can go."

"Where are you dragging me to anyway?!" I asked.

"To Sandy’s."

"What? You’re hungry?! Why didn’t you say that earlier?" Seriously?! He was taking me to a coffee shop?

He didn’t say anything else until we got there. He ordered donuts and an espresso while I ordered Caramel Macchiato. We sat at table 9 silently.

I kept sneaking suspicious glances at him. "So, what did you want to clarify?" I finally asked. I hated sitting with him in silence. It made me feel awkward.

"Why is she here? I told you to come, not her."

I got up abruptly at the sound of Samantha’s voice. I stared at her for a while, wondering why she was here… then it got to me. I looked at Chris and shook my head. "Yea… Why am I here? With her?"

Chris got up and wrapped his arm around my waist. He looked straight at Samantha. "This girl… she’s the one I love." He pulled me closer to him, and I found myself awkwardly staring at my blue converse shoes. What was he saying? Was he using me to get rid of Samantha?

Samantha crossed her arms across her chest and snorted. "You expect me to believe that?!"

I pushed my hair out of my eyes and glared at her. This girl really pisses me off. I was going to say something but was caught off guard when Chris turned to face me and then crushed his lips to mine.

He pulled me even closer and the kiss became a little more than a… kiss. I quickly pushed him away. Samantha caught my arm before I could walk out. Damn it! Everyone was looking our way now.

"Are you serious?! You like her?!!" Samantha screamed.

Chris had an evil smile on his face. "No."

I really wanted to punch him right now. Was he playing with me? Is this some kind of sick joke? Samantha grinned. "I knew it."

He raised an eyebrow. "Good, cause I don’t like her… I love her."

We got kicked out just then. The shop manager looked so angry. I stood there in between Chris and Samantha watching them fight.

"Why don’t you just get over with it?" Chris snorted.

"Are you crazy? I don’t care anymore. You only have a pretty face anyway…"

"SHUT UP both of you," I shouted.

They were both staring at me now. I sighed and walked away. I just wasted an hour of my precious time.

I walked all the way to Lynn’s house where she and Jen were sitting at the kitchen table, munching on cookies. Lynn shook her head disapprovingly as I walked in. "Why are you so late?" She asked. I sat on the chair and crossed my arms.

"It’s all his fault," I mumbled.

Jen blinked then after a few seconds a smile formed across her face. "Chris? Oh. I bet something interesting happened. Come on, tell me."

I shut my eyes. "Leave me alone!!"

Of course, after Jen nagged me for about half an hour I ended up telling them what happened. Lynn’s mouth was wide open and so were her eyes. She looked really shocked. Well that’s for sure… I mean, who is crazy to confess to a girl like that in front of an audience? Especially if he might be doing that only to get rid of a girl he doesn’t like.

"You idiot!! He really likes you… that’s why," Jen exclaimed.

That just doesn’t make sense though. Chris… likes me? I shook my head and got spanked in the head.

"Why are you so dense? I know you’ve never been in a relationship before but you can’t be that stupid!!" Jen said.

"D-dense? Me? But, Jen… It doesn’t make sense if you think about it."

So, the rest of the day passed really slowly… When I got home, I saw Chris leaning on the front door of my house. When I got closer I noticed his lips were bleeding.

"What happened to you?!" I asked. "Why are you standing here like this?"

He smirked, and then I noticed… he was drunk. "Chris?" He blinked. I sighed and caught his arm.

"Sandra… I’m sorry," he said. I stopped and he fell right on top of me…

I guess we were even now. He took care of me when I was drunk… so I was taking care of him now. It was around 11 when Chris woke up. I could hear him cursing from the kitchen.

"You know my parents will be here at 5. So, you better get up now," I shouted out.

"I’m already up so stop screaming at me," he said.

I walked to the living room and watched him sitting there, still cursing himself. "It’s your fault for getting drunk," I shrugged.

"Why didn’t you just call my mum to get me?! You actually let me stay here?" He was angry now.

"Why not? You took care of me before, right? Besides your mum said she was too busy… and I thought you needed to be taken care of. You seemed kind of sick last night."

"Look… I’m a guy!! Can’t you see that? And I was drunk too… shouldn’t you be more careful?! You’re too defenseless!!"

My eyes widened and suddenly I felt too conscious of him. That’s right… Chris is a guy and he’s kissed me twice already.

"I know, but… do you really… l-lo…"

"I love you. Should I say it again? I really love you. You’ve already affected me this much but you don’t know? Do you know how frustrating this is?!"

I was speechless now… I watched him walk out then sunk to the ground. Tears started flowing down my cheeks… I’ve never expected to hear him say that. What the hell was wrong with me? Maybe I do like him after all…
